Oldhammer Music for Cheetor

This is a bit off topic, but I've no idea where better to put it. I've got a bit of a project I'd like to show Cheetor, as it was inspired by his work. I don't want to just spam his blog with the darn thing, so I'm posting it here. Having watched his Mushrööm Klöwd project evolve, I had to wonder what sort of stuff they might sing. This is my answer, in two versions. It still needs a little polishing, but . . . it's probably about to the point that I can get it in my library without the aid of others. I've recorded two versions: one with monster voice, and the other without. I'm no Steven Tylork, but I try when I can. I give you . . .

"Squigpipes to the Rescue"

Without monster voice (and much faster): http://www.symphonicpoet.com/Noindex/SP ... xdown2.wav

And with monster voice (and a serious case of the slows): http://www.symphonicpoet.com/Noindex/SP ... 20slow.wav

 Mental. IDK, this is possibly the most on-topic thing ever.

A lot bluesier than I'd expected, but really taken with the Monster Voice version.

What would it take to get this on flexi-disc?

As I said in my email earlier symphonicpoet, finding out this morning that someone was encouraged to write a song inspired by my toy soldiers was a bit of a show stopper.
Its a little further down the hobby rabbit hole in some respects than I have been before, but that is definitely something to be celebrated.

One way or another, you have my (and more importantly Mushrööm Klöwds) blessing in this and related endeavours.

If you start making a fortune out of it we can renegotiate :)

Due to the vaguely Spinal Tap or Tenacious D vibe that I imagine the Klöwd to have, I cant help but think about adding a squigpiper to the line up now. I have images of him entering the stage as a model henge is lowered from the ceiling...

This model (not my paint job).

That's a cool musical sculpt, a little raw as you say but I see the potential there after some cleanup and a nice paintjob. ;)

But, seriously, don't be making too much cool fan art for Cheetor, his head will get so big it won't fit through the door of his games room! ;D

What's a flexi disk? You are welcome to download it for your own personal enjoyment. If you want me to send a CD or some such send me a PM. We'll work something out. I really don't have a lot of rock or much like it . . . yet. Working on more, though not any other MK stuff yet.

^Curtis

The lyrics can be found here.

I was aiming for orky. I'm glad to hear it comes off that way. :)

^Cheetor

I suppose I have a confession to make . . .

He's easy to miss, and he wasn't really there in Ferrograd. But I have always thought squigpipers were a great addition to an ork expeditionary force. Or a band. Or anything, really. On the plus side? If you use the right kind of squig maybe they'll even make the flames for you. Now that's metal!

^The Otto

I really would not want to keep Cheetor out of his hobby room, so I'll try not to make the fit too much tighter at the doorway. ;)

Speaking of which, you guys are going to make it hard for me to squeeze into mine. :"> Thank you. I'm glad you like it. If you're really that interested I'll try to get a little more wrocklike (or bluesy) stuff up on the site some place a little less dim-webbish and more indexed and properly linked. Anyway, thanks!

Sincerely,
SymphonicPoet Dave

What's a flexi disk?

A flexi-disk is a very cheap and lightweight vinyl record. Games Workshop issued the song "Blood for the Blood God" by Sabbat on a flexi-disk in White Dwarf #95. It would be a kind of humorous (to me, anyway) collectors item thing to release the song on such a format, but probably not very practical or economic.

Yeah what with the top hats I guess I always saw the ork rockers as a bit hair rock, guns n roses, Mötley Crüe or skid row. Fun, loud and brainless. But why not go back to the Yardbirds or zeplin with them.
Fun tune, the monster voice obviously fits the miniatures best.

Okay. I do know the format. I had a fair few of them as a child, though never any from White Dwarf. I'll keep that in mind.

I suppose my own musical voice bears more in common with the Yarbirds or Zep than Mötley Crüe or Skid Row. It's a direction I can definitely see, though. Glad you enjoyed it. :)

^rredmond,

Glad you liked it. :) It was fun to write. Fun to record, even.

Since we're on the subject of music . . .

This isn't a Mushrööm Klöwd project, but I managed to Oldhammer the video up anyway.

Morning in the Sun is a little video I did for youtube. I can't seem to embed here. (Probably no script for it. Maybe video isn't likely to be our most popular format. Or maybe I'm just an idjit and can't figure it out. Both seem feasible.)
