Oldhammer ebay searches?

So, I thought of, what I consider, a good question for those of you who have been doing this quite a while. What words do you use in your search descriptions to find oldhammer miniatures on ebay. I have a few, such as Rogue Trader, OOP, Realm of Chaos as well as adding dates such as 1989. I think this thread might be a big help for people who want to start oldhammer collections of their own. I hope I haven't made a duplicate of a similar thread that I missed somewhere else on this forum.

I just search the the entire wargames & roleplaying section, with the listings set to 'ending soonest' and 'auctions only'. Yes there's a lot of crap to filter through, but so many people don't know what they've got and label it incorrectly.

For example, I picked up this lot the other week:
$_57.JPG

That's eleven jetbikes, a RT dreadnought, and a big-ass manga robot for a bargain price of £20.99 (about $30) because it was listed as 'Warhammer 40k imperial Walker and sky infantry'. Ain't no one going to search for that title.

Who looks for Rogue trade rmodels anyway, what you're really after is ROUGE trader models ;)

Oh and Dieselmonkey is spot on too.

dieselmonkey,

Your mecha looks like a battlepod from Robotech from the 1980's, great cartoon started my love of anime and sci fi (that and dr who.)

Yeah it is. Currently deciding what the hell to do with it! It may end up partially dismantled and in the Port Imperiale scrapyard.

Wash your mouth out sir

That's a Zentradi Reguld Tactical Battle Pod from the anime series Super Dimensional Fortress Macross...which was raped by Americans to become Robotech.

(just mucking about, I LOVED Robotech as a kid)

I think my problem when searching ebay is more that I live in the wrong country. American searches don't end up with that many good results. :(

You'd be surprised. Some of the really old stuff (pre-slotta and mail order only from the early years) is uncommon here, but there is a ton out there. You just have look. They were producing insane amounts if models in the 80s, it didn't all end up in the UK.

Me to count, one of my fav's of all time. Remember being heart broken as a kid when in the invid invasion seris Scott and co were getting close to reflex point and we went camping no tv and missed the last 2 episodes. :(

Looks like there's quite a few Aussie fans of Robotech on here

I remember waking up early on Saturday mornings to watch it every week. I think it was the first cartoon l had seen up till that age that had people dying in it! The intro scene's really got me excited as a kid

Awesome stuff.

I can tell you that Rick Hunter never came back

I sympathise, I missed huge chunks of the show.

The Robotech theme and some of the instrumental music (the battle and ominous music) still gets me pumped- though I've got to say that after getting the Japanese Macross series with subtitles I can't stomach Robotech anymore
I've been meaning to get the Robotech Tactics miniatures game...I have a bunch of model kits, a few painted up like this Glaug

a very cool, walking Minmay Doll kit and a few Toynami Valkyries and Alphas/Legioss.

I never got around to watching the Macross series. But i fear that if i watch it now (and it's better than Robotech) then It'll destroy my childhood memory of it being great :(

Regarding the Robotech boardgame, i heard that the minis are quite poorly made. I'm not sure what the "game" is like though.

Yeah, your fear is well grounded

I wouldn't be surprised about the RPG tactics game and minis, unfortunately it seems everything that Harmony Gold (the owners of Robotech) put out is substandard or doomed to fail.
The New Generation/Invid Invasion Robotech series (Genesis Climber Mospeada) isn't too badly handled though, I must say.
