The Warhound and the Worlds Pain was a Moorcock that has sort of HRE / Chaos vibes and is actually one of my favourite stories by him.
I must re-visit his stuff.

It's starts in 12th century Europe with Holy Roman Emperor Fredrick Barbarossa kicking off in Italy, but the narrator (who's a proper trickster) ends up travelling into the east and encounters all sorts of weird mythical creatures (if you've ever see the Mappa Mundi - that). It's a ripping yarn with dark humour throughout.

Sounds like it may work!

not really a story but I could recommend the Ars Goetia of Solomon the King but... the translation and notes taken as if it was some real thing by local guy Aleister Crowley.. very nasty piece of work him.. but for some chaos fun, some good things for ideas
