Nightmare 2019AD

Hello, I'm a disabled artist, not fit for work since I was a teenager. During high school I decided I need to become an artist since I couldn't count on getting and keeping a normal job. Some time has passed. I was initially struggling with becoming an artist, a story I will describe later in more detail, but most important was the influence of Grimdark. Initially, artists like Karl Kopinski and David Gallagher.

In 2008 I discovered Oldhammer and my idols like Wil Rees, Ian Miller and Tony Hough. It gave me a new direction to develop my art. At that time I went to a 2 year advertisement college because of drawing and computer graphics classes. I managed to improve my drawing skills a lot thanks to a fundamentals of drawings textbook I had.

At the same time I started helping in my mother's company doing CAD drafting in an obscure cheap CAD program. The amount of work quickly became not enough and I had last bit of it in 2022.

Somewhere mid-2019 I embarked on Quest to Git Gud.

At that point my work most funded by my mother. During first several months of quest to git gud I used up about 70 gel pens and 11 100 page sketchbooks and I also bought a pen and ink drawing workbook.
I was going to do groceries about every second day and I would stop in coffee houses and draw there. Getting coffee and sometimes a cake would make the miserable grind bearable.

Here is archive of my Oldhammer works from that period:

My study diary:

Zine with drawings depicting some visits to coffee houses:

I finished the first stage of the quest in January, 2020. In 20190626-20200125, I have done 339h of drawing, including 166h of grinding drawing exercises.

This was my most intensive productivity period.
Later I started doing much less since I didn't get anything from it and deleted most of my works from my blog in July, 2021.

Later in September 2021-2024 my mother's business started doing much worse and I had to partially rely on community help to survive since I was one of the 85% of unemployed people in Country 404 that were condemned to starve in the name of the Nazi ideology of useless eaters. With the help I managed to get private diagnosis for ADHD and general psychological evaluation and together with my high school era papers get not fit for work degree since before 2006 which allowed me to get a disability pension of half of minimal wage.
During that time I produced many new artworks.
These can be seen in my ko-fi gallery and were uploaded in 100dpi lossless images in archives:

Also, my works from 2021-202307:

Please consider donating to support production of more high effort art:

When I don't have work budget, I usually just draw slop, since that's how I draw for my own enjoyment, self-expression:

Cool. In that first one is the "gun wielding" figure separate - ie a small figure in front of the larger marine like character or is it part of the one character - ie a mini arm/gun contraption on their waist? Anyhow very reminiscent of some of the weird and wonderful art of old.

These are three separate sketches. At that point, I wasn't doing it seriously so lots of stuff was just partial sketches.

At that point I wanted to lean more into Gigerian direction. Nightmare II and Nightmare III which I haven't posted were actually NSFW. That incarnation of Nightmare was extremely edgy.

I was continuing it in Summer, 2020 but unfortunately I had to abandon it due to people not wanting to support my work. I haven't returned to it because I'm less into edgy stuff, though it could be adapted as a hell for Social Darwinists.

There's some quite nice work in there, even if you don't want to do "edgy" stuff anymore. The first one, dated 2023-10-11, has a nice balance of light and shadow. You have some interesting armor forms. The very last image, the one directly above, does a nice job of making the soldier stand out against the background, even though everything is pretty densely inked. Interesting armor, too. Kind of has an elephant look to it, which is interesting and unusual. Glad to see you back.
