Older Miniatures volume I?

I'm not sure I see the connection to Knightmare. I think this is starting to go into the difference (though slight) between Bootleg and Knock-off. If I did a hand sculpt based on someone else's art work (technically I have, just not for sale) that can easily be a IP violation. Even if I tried to sculpt a copy of another model, its a bit iffy but it's original just in the style.

If you just make a COPY of another figure, even if you then do a weapon swap or it's just ripping off someone else's stuff. Compare this is tracing a piece of line art. you haven't created that drawing, you just traced it.

of course, there is also the attitude of the people. Not this persay but lets say "Oh, this is just line art, it's not really art. I traced it and painted it thus making it into original art! It is now Art!".. No problem with trace and paint but then claiming it's not original art which you want to sell or how you are great cause you have turned 'rubbish' into art is... a major thing. See difference between spring boarding and paganism.

Though I think I've said all I should on the subject ^_^

Err, that the miniature highlighted is in their current range and for sale by them (Knightmare Miniatures) so that's a rather blatant copy (I've no idea if it was itself "inspired by" something else). There is some small saving grace given most of the others seem to at least be based off models that are currently out of production.

fair enough. A copy as in a new sculpt highly based on the original, or just a recast level copy? I think scan + print comes under 'recast' level.

I was going to flag to Diego, but I can't see that image on their KS page now. Maybe they have removed it?
