Here is some thread necromancy for you but as I started it originally I think it's OK (or maybe it's the other way around).

Anyway clearly I was on a break from the hobby when Harry posted up his last entries from a year ago! Otherwise I'd have frothed over them at the time. As I recently acquired a RT Rhino boxed set I thought it would be fun to revisit the 40K part of my collection to see how it has grown and add some rare pictures for those that like that sort of thing. There are loads of pictures so I'll post some of the best here and direct you to the blog if your itching for more where useful I've photographed the front and backs of the boxes with some really cool stuff on the backs of some:

Utter envy on those classic 40k boxes!

I chucked all mine when I was a teenager and then gave away all the miniatures in my early 20's. It's a decision I have always regretted!

That's a nice pile there, Erny! I love piles of boxes - they remind me of the readers' survey grand prize piles from old White Dwarf. They gave away quite a lot of nice stuff way back when...

Would never have thought a load of old boxes would hit me with such a wave of nostalgia, only ones i have left are a Citadel Colour paint set & 2nd Edition Blood Bowl
 
This is my original collection, and i remember getting these as stocking fillers at chrimbo and birthdays (one of those sad things about getting older was not getting cool toys for xmas, then once i got married i started getting toys again!)

The three classic box sets comprise:SS4 Goblin raiding party /CP4 Tom Meier Lizard warriors and SS1(set 2) Chaos warriors.

Most of the later sets are unpainted as i realised after painting the 4th set (Giak attack) that i was an awful painter so stopped.

What is it with my Kitchen?!? I'm going to have to find somewhere else to take my pictures because my wife's decorative ideas are becoming a distraction.

Great stuff Skyrak, awesome you got those as stocking fillers! I'd love to have the Lone wolf one in my collection (well all of them really) the only one I have is the Monster starter set with most of the contents of the Dwarf Lords of Legend.

CVB, loving the paint set, I had three of them as a kid (but not this one) haven't seen them in years though, the only things to go missing. Do you still have the paint?


Chico you can't have my battle wagon (any of them) but at least you now have a nice picture of the box..

As to the rest of you lets see the photos you promised.

Oh and would you all be interested in seeing some 2nd ed 40k and 4th ed fantasy boxed sets?
 
Sadly Erny I don't have any of the paints-while I was smart enough to hang onto my miniatures the paints weren't so lucky.

I'd definitely like to see more of whatever you guys have (I've got a fair few 2nd ed 40k boxes, but 4th FB intrigues me)

PS: Can I have the battlewagon? :razz:
 
Well that was an awesome find. The best I ever got from a charity shop was a copy of hero quest against the ogres and a copy of spacecrusade elder attack. Must have been very exciting just to find them lying there.
