Okay.. What? Locations of People

ManicMan

Lord
Now.. I can understand why there are alot of people here from around Nottingham area. Even though they kinda more started with London-Nottingham, Nottingham is kinda a centre for GW/Citadel in the day and probably still have a big base there. And with Oldhammer mostly being older people, Them being around in the heyday in Nottingham makes sense.

The Bristol area side which we seam to have alot of members from... makes less sense to me but, it's a fairly big town/area so yeah... fair enough, but doesn't quite make sense...

Some London? maybe, like I said, that was also a GW base, and it's a big place so alot of people.

a few users from various other places but not big hubs As I see it (might just not notice ^_^ but this is all what I see)

But why, oh why, Do I seam to be sooo alone in the East Sussex area? We have History! With Have tons of nice castles (some with rooms for hire). True, we have GW shops around or even shops that sold miniatures at all, though more now.. a bit.

Just seams ... odd? to me.. not sure.. I know this forum isn't a great cross-section of the world (or even UK) population but still. When I was young, I remember knowing a couple of people who kinda played. Some more played things like HeroQuest but not fully into the whole Miniatures thing. The one time there was a GW Event in town in a not too big place which I went to.. not that impressed what I remember, but It was... well, the fact I don't remember too much probably says how well I thought it was. I'm not just talking about my town which is.. ugh... but talking about much of East Sussex as a whole (which is soon to lost ALOT of money it doesn't have with all this De-volution (Are we not men?) rubbish and just become Sussex.. but lets not go into politics.

In the close Hastings/St. Leonards area.. I remember 3 shops that had Miniatures. 2 of them were Model shops, one just had a small GW range more recently, but had more of a range for tools and paints and stuff for general models, railways etc. The other was... well, it used to be a fair size and at one stage had GW and SOME others. Then it sold off the front of the shop so they only had the back and it was kinda open 'when they felt like it' (it seamed) then it went. The other shop was probably the main one but I don't remember much Miniatures apart from GW, but had a couple of gaming tables for miniature play, had some trading card game stuff but mostly.. ugh, stuff which more and more took over the shop and I'm pretty sure led to it closing down.

I believe in total, East Sussex had.. 1, maybe 2 GW Shops... Probably a few shops which sold miniatures but alot didn't seam to be that open about it..

I guess that might be why we appear to have soo little but... It's kinda interesting to see just where and why some areas are a ... 'mecca' (if you will) for players.

I am not sure how these communities of gamers develop, but find it fascinating the history of mini manufacturers in my own town.

Just across the valley from my house was once the location of Dixon Miniatures (https://www.dixon-minis.com/) still running, but now based in Honley a few miles further away.
We also had the legendary Hinchcliffe Miniatures in Meltham (https://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Hinchliffe), check out this quaint promo film for them:

Being a Polytechnic/University town, we also have a thriving community of student gamers which have helped the gaming shops. Found out recently that one of the gaming groups was where Mike Brunton and Tom Kirby met!! (https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-grognard-files/id1028591522?i=1000442628252)
