Not strictly Oldhammer but...

Just thought you might like to look at what's been taking up my modelling time recently. Not strictly Oldhammer but lots of lovely lead anyhow.

Bunch of assorted civilians for a project that I'm working on.

One warhammer model and a bunch of unrelated figures. WHy post them here? If this was facebook it would be heavily critisised and a whole storm of words! I mean, neat but mediocre paint jobs of totally un-oldhammer stuff. Thumbs down from me.

The clue was in the thread title. You didn't have to click on it and there is no need to be rude.

Hi

Seems like I misjudged what some people think of as acceptable on this forum...

There are plenty of posts connected to non Oldhammer games if you look around. Hell I've even seen a post about building model planes!

Sorry to Ramshackle Curtis if my mediocre paint jobs offended your eyes. I know I'm not Stone Cold Lead but I was actually quite pleased with them.

I'm more then happy to remove the post if required.

For those interested they are substitute models for the Mars Attacks game. I bought the game recently as a starter game to try to get my sons into the wargames hobby. Its a simple but fun game a bit of a cross between a board game and a miniatures game. The models however are the bendy plastic type so I've been finding substitutes.

The knight is an old Citadel pladin. The construction worker and the female cop are both Foundry. Everything else is Hasslefree Miniatures.

In the game the martians have brought the knight forward through time.

I promise in future to only post pictures of my Oldhammer stuff

Well said sir,

You just post away and let the moderators debate what's suitable or not. If, critics want a debate the finer points of what or what isn't suitable - I'll happily explain that good manners put people at their ease, whilst etiquette puts them in their place. Discuss, anyone?

Great film by the way, and I for one would like to know more about the game and see if we could Oldhammer it?

Paul / Golgfag1

I was trying to post mentioning that all your miniatures appear to be really swell cute cats with "photo not found" watermarked on them. Which is great, but not strictly oldhammer . . . which, to be fair, was hinted in the title. Lots of civilian cats.

Wait . . .

Also more or less what Golgfag1 said. And it's ironic that Curtis is going after you, as he himself has been the subject of similar criticism elsewhere. Talented sculptor with a particular style that not everyone appreciates, so he's been rather brutally attacked on other fora. I'm going to say it's post-traumatic criticism disorder lashing out. I have a musical version of the same thing.

But then the computer gods ate my post. So here it is rehashed, shortened, and half digested.

Please do keep posting. And where can I see your pictures?

Thanks for the support guys.

Problems with Photobucket I think hence why the photos have dissapeared.

Hopefully this works.

Painting on blonde lady and the construction worker is great. I wonder if you could paint a high-vis vest in actually reflective paint? He'd look good with some sort of 40k-ified las-cutter instead of the grinder.

That comment is so redundant! The FORUM has a clue in its title too you know. If you think it is not anything to do with 1. Old or 2. Warhammer then dont post it! Whats the point? I mean these figures are not even sci-fi, they fit with nothing warhammer or warhammer related. You could maybe include them as alternate 28mm dark future, but that is a stretch.

Im sorry if I have offended anyone, but really, think before you post. Go to the forum of doom or something to post up your hasslefree or go to the mantic site to post up mars attacks alternates.

Shaun is armed with a cricket bat (-1 to Hit, + 1 to targets saving throw, breaks on a 1/6)* and The Winchester a sawn-off double barreled shotgun (S: 1D4, D: 1, Short Range 4, Max Range 18, Area 0.5", can be fired at 2 separate targets within a 35 degree firing arc per turn)

*yeah, so looks worse than useless, but without a weapon zombies get an automatic infection bite.

Lovely clean paintjobs.

The photobucket still isn't quite working out for me, but the group shot works fine. They look good. Nicely done, actually. There's several guys there that would fit in fine in quite a few dark future locales, and the fellow with the big sword doubtless speaks for himself. Do you plan to put together a band or gang of some kind? To tell a story with these kids? Nice work, either way. Good, clean, legible paintjobs that ought to look good on a table.

Dunno if I'd agree with Curtis about the poor paint jobs, but he's smack on the money as far as them (bar one) not really belonging on this forum.

Sorry, if you feel a bit hurt by these negative comments MagpieJono, but it is a little strange that you thought it was suitable to post modern minis on a fantasy/sci-fi forum. But, I do think their painted well by the way....I'm bloody hopeless at painting large flat surfaces.

Dunno. I think they are fully appropriate, and personally welcome their addition to the forum. I can see no reason Oldhammer can't be applied to any genre you might wish, superheroes, zombie apocalypse, historicals, whatever. Could do without the "Not Oldhammer but.." subject line because it's largely redundant.

Do agree that the model airplane updates and other stuff seem to indicate that NewsBot still isn't quite filtering blogposts properly. Kind of a separate issue tho.

Coming from the guy who thinks it's OK to post pictures of goats, I'd be surprised if you thought anything was inappropriate to post here?

Well something certainly seems to have got your goat. Sigh... well some people enjoyed them and understood the humour. Sorry if they annoyed you, their time has long gone.

Not sure why people are trying to draw a line here tho, seems arbitrary to me.
