Alternatives (for the failed alternative to WFB, I think called fantasy Warlord)

TBH, I like them (They're still available somewhere, and cheap as chips)

Part Two: Dwarf Missile Troops

First some Mid-Hammer Plastic Thunderers. Except they are not - I am so cheap I would not buy metal and so I bought bits of 'Plastruct' rods (etc) and made my own handguns ...

no, those are old crusader miniatures, they were still available from rapier miniatures (following a couple of changes of ownership), but their website seems to be down.

Thanks. That is of course why I utilised the qualifying word 'probably'.

All I had to go on is that they looked (in style) like some of the dwarfs Wargames Foundry has listed now, and a comment that they might be from a Facebook post. I couldn't find images of any of these anywhere on the web, but I only looked for 10 minutes.

I am afraid that if I continue this thread, there will be a lot of guesswork on my behalf, awaiting comments from those who know, if they can be bothered. I was always focused on the games and the game-worlds, and what I wanted for the stories, armies and roleplay scenarios. I never paid much attention at all to manufacturers and ranges! A Facebook comment meant I knew about the Asgard dwarf handgunners, which once I heard it, I did at least vaguely recall.

Thank you Symphonic!

I loves me a leering goblin!

Part Four: Gob Lobber!

My attempt to recreate the above. I have most of the crew painted. The chef I have found (plus his roasting pig) but the guy with two hands up I can't find in my boxes. He's there somewhere.

The guy who is supposed to be sitting on the netted goblins ready for lobbing next is the King of Karak Borgo in my campaign, so I hacked off the goblins to make him able to sit on his throne! (Here he is sitting on blu tack!)

The reason the crew were never painted as one is because for decades I actually used the engine for my greenskins!!!

Isn’t it strange that the war hammer armies book refers to the skull crusher crew as being orcs, but the actual box set clearly indicates they are goblins. Great models nevertheless.

Also, for my monies worth, I think the plastics dwarves here were much better than the mono-pose miniatures that came out for WFB4e ;)

I was confused by the orcs/goblins thing too.

A friend painted the dwarfs, back in the 80s, I only painted the standard bearer and musician a few years later.

Sweet! And dee-licious! Who wants pork steak? :)

Well, you might have to serve the riders first. Just . . . 'cause otherwise they might try to serve you. Anyway, lovely stuff.

You really have an incredibly neat mix of stuff. And you manage to make them all hang together very well. I love your style. You mass things together in these absolutely enormous groups that my eye can kind of just drift lazily across, but you've kept them all just individual enough that things pop out like vignettes and you pause on a crazy skeleton smile or a handsome chestnut horse. Good, clean, bold . . . I really love it and I can't wait to see it in a report. :)
