Mushööm Klöwd Goff Rokkers: Steev Tylork & Sound Guy & Bus

I am currently in the process of painting ork miniatures from a variety of sources, with a liberal sprinkling of older GW sculpts dotted throughout.

Last night I finished these guys. Fun models :)

Brilliant! I love these figures! I'm sure I had them when I was 15 but it could be my mind playing tricks on me!

Re: Goff Rokkers

These are sweet. Where can I buy a Mushroom Klowd T-shirt? Gah, I never felt the urge to get these guys before and now I do...damn you Paul!

Funny think about the Goffik Rockerz is how they seem to cloud everyones minds!

Really great, just spot on for both the vibe and colours. Paintjob at its best like always.

See I posted that twice there! That's what happens with these guys when they get inside your head.

Re: Goff Rokkers

Nice paintjob.

Seeing this reminds me of the Epic Goffik Rokkers mobile bandstand that appeared in Citadel Journal. I believe it was a converted mega-gargant base with the band on top!

Re: Goff Rokkers

 Mushrööm Klöwd salute you for the rockin' feedback guys.

Brother VonBismark has the facts gentlemen. The Goff Rockers are currently available from GW for €14. Do yourselves a favour and buy them. Second chances like that dont come too often in the Oldhammer World, and all self respecting , RT-inclined ork players should have a set of these smelly looking toerags :)

Speaking of rock getting inside your head, painting these has meant that I have been singing Spinal Tap songs for a week.

Also speaking of rock getting inside your head, the paint job was inspired in part by Stryper, "one of the top Christian rock bands of all-time" apparently.

Yeesh. Anyway, it occurred to me that perhaps Mushrööm Klöwd might be the ork equivalent, boring all of the boyz to tears with rock about when Gork hit some guy and power ballads about when Mork snuck up behind some guy and belted him with a length of pipe.

I considered painting "GORK" and "MORK" across their knuckles, but like the plans for leopardskin trousers, I ran out of patience.

Does anyone know of a manufacturer who has made sci-fi looking orks playing other instruments? A drummer and a keyboard/keytarist would make fine additions. A Flash Git will be serving Manager duties.

I know the exact image that you are talking about Zedmeister. Was that an Epic image? I was rooting through my old CJs and WDs to try and find that photo, but I couldnt find it. Do you know what issue it was in?

Re: Goff Rokkers

Oh, man, this is so great at so many levels! Now you also need some Noise Marines to fight over the sales top 10!

Re: Goff Rokkers

I do remember th egoff rockband on a huge mobile concert scene but it was 40k scaled, I can find the issue tonight.

That would (appropriately) rock Asslessman. I spent ages last weekend trying to find it for adding to the blog post, but couldnt.

Re: Goff Rokkers

Brilliant work, the album cover really seals the deal

I remember Stryper, they used to throw bibles out at their concerts (apparently ;) )

Found it! Citadel journal 9, page 44. Epic rules for the Rokkers and their tour wagon!

Re: Goff Rokkers

Here they are, from issue 141 (September 1991)

You can note the zebra trousers. ;)

Re: Goff Rokkers

Thanks to both Asslessman and zedmeister for the detective work, you guys rock.

The 28mm image is obviously a Golden Demon or other competition entry. I was looking for a Goff Rokkers article rather than simply an image, which is why I missed it. Assless Poirot to the rescue ;)

I grabbed my copy of CJ9 this morning before I left for work. Its very strange how the small black and white photo of the Epic rockers on stage had sort of blended in my mind with the 28mm shot of the rokkers provided by Asslessman in the many years since I last looked at either. Memory is a very imprecise thing.

I planned to paint red and black leopardskin on at least one of the rockers trousers, a bit like I painted on these two non-oldhammer, rather poorly photographed figures:

Painting the Rokkers was spread out over a longer period than I like due to real life stuff and I was getting sick of looking at them in an unfinished state. In the end I was concerned that if I started the leopardskin that I might run out of patience and that they would end up half finished, so I cut my losses and left them in red trousers that match the rest of my orks. A minor pity, but Mushrööm Klöwd look decent enough without it all the same.

The album cover was fun to do, even if it isnt up to much technically speaking. As you say, it does give the whole project some sort of additional layer of finish for some reason. I am going to have to print out a few to use as posters on my terrain :)

Absolutely nothing that I hear about a band like that, with a look like that would surprise me

I find Stryper to be mind bogglingly peculiar as a concept. I mean, that third guy in the image shown above looks like the guy who rides on the back of Wez bike in Mad Max II: a sort of cartoon evil homosexual type. I guess that he is trying to look sexy. Nothing wrong with any of that of course, but in the context of a Christian rock band I find it all supremely odd. Can you imagine those guys playing in St Peters Square at Easter?

I figure that I am not their target market and leave it at that  Memorable outfits all the same though.

Re: Goff Rokkers

Some of those glamrock really had a thing and hearing some now is very interesting if you're into the kinds of music that spawned from such bands. Getting guys who wera make up and who duckface on every single photo to look more badass thans the otehr band is a very strange yet fascinating concept.
You just made me want to go for my Jes Goodwin noise marine to glam his power armour for good. First time I painted him nearly gave me an epileptic breakdown but now i'm pretty sure I can manage to give him a sexy-glam touch without being ridiculous...

Oh yes, you now need to include the original noise marine along with the Rokkers lineup. Sort of like a guest appearance

It certainly is. The more traditionally feminine the guys looked, the more hard case they were supposed to be. A bit like yellow and pink leotard clad Empire halberdiers with huge moustaches, its a different yardstick for "macho".

I have a unit of those guys, so I will have to paint the lot or none at all. But the notion of a track recorded by "Mushrööm Klöwd feat. Sonic Perverts" does make me chuckle
