More Warhammer: The Old World Made to Order miniatures

I opted for just the Ogres in the end. I figured those are the sculpts I really wanted. Also seeing a couple of those ogres going on ebay today for £16 made me feel better! The baggage carts beyond a bit of nostalgia don't offer me anything over the millions of others out there at a pittance of the price, it's not like it's a "wow" sculpt or anything. The dragons are sweet, but I don't remember them (unlike a few of the other baby/small dragons) and they were just a bit too much for a "nice to have".

My credit card gives a sigh of relief…
At not being stretched too badly or that prices are too high and it's getting a day off ?

I have decided to skip this batch. Some great sculpts but not the right mix of price and miniatures for me. Already have 5 metals to convert as Ogryn and that's probably as many as I will ever need.

Yes, I wanted the baggage carts but it's $77USD. One can buy a Bolt Action tank platoon for around that amount. Last month as part of an order from the UK I got a Warlord Games Victorian-era Water Cart (no horse, but it's de rigeur for a Zulu War or Sudan British force) for $18.50USD.

Exactly. If it were a set of the 3 JG ogres I'd maybe go for it. I guess they've gone through the range looking for equipment parity with how they can be fielded in TOW I imagine, picking a stand-out model for each so people get excited. I'd maybe go for a Hrothyogg by himself as an iconic figure, but I'm not bothered enough by him to pay that.

Whilst everyone else is questioning the marauder/jes godwin switcheroo I thought I’d just point out that the paint jobs on the recast models are significantly below standard. The ogre captain has to be one of the most popular ogres to paint and they have not really bothered to do anything special there. Has obviously been pumped out without any thought or effort

I am of the opinion that the majority of GW store front models are deliberately painted to a table top standard.
I reckon this is not to deter newcomers.

Agreed.
