Mophus's miniatures

Heroquest Chaos Wizard

I have already painted the McVey variant and wanted to do the one of the Heroquest cover, too.

Very nice. Looking at Heroquest models these days makes me want to sculpt on extra details, they're so smooth! Still prefer them to most recent GW models

Yes, they're very minimalistic, but they are board game miniatures after all. I think the grade of detail (and monopose style) fits well for a boardgame, as it improves the recognisability for casual gamers.

I also prefer the neutral pose of the miniatures. I personally don't like dramatic melee poses, sculpted magic effects or flames. A miniature is just a kind of token for me - the action happens in my fantasy. A neutral pose offers unlimited possibilities - a defined one just a single one. It is similar like the change in Lego faces over the years.

Armalion/DSA:

The miniatures are still available through Ral Partha.

I am going to use him for Advanced Heroquest and Song of Blades of Heroes as a summoner.

Thank you! Here are the first members of my Stargrave crew:

Citadel plastic Skaven / Warzone Bauhaus Sergeant conversion. The space suit is inspired by SW rebel pilots:

Oh, those are fantastic! The RP knights are absolutely magnificent. I love the color choices, the paint jobs, the heraldry, the sculpts . . . top to bottom perfection there. I just picked up a copy of Heroquet and the idea of supplementing it with a modest collection of fantasy miniatures is right tempting. You're going to push that thought right over the line yet.

And the frog crew is glorious! A few years back I converted an RP fantasy frog into a peg legged space slann pirate. With a banjo. I figured the poor fellow had grown up on an industrial planet with no remaining sky to speak of. And so he had a two part quest: to discover what all those old rainbow songs were about and find the man who took his leg for advertising. I ended up naming my Sci-Fi crew's ship the Rainbow Connection, even though I lost the raffle and poor Robin ended up in the UK somewhere, I believe. I really need to get off my duff and make a second RP fantasy to space slann conversion. With a banjo. Because your frog crew is beyond beautiful. Very inspiring stuff.

Another Stargrave crew member. Warzone Imperial soldier plastic body, Space Marine arms and bolter, Chaos mutants sprue head, and a screw tip for the death ray gun.

That last guy is so original in his way!

The tip of the gun is very convincing, you should try a heavy weapon with 3 tips like this of a funky gatling gun ;)

He looks like some kind of Tau sub species...

Anyway keep up the good work!
