Miniatures you wish they'd have made from a movie

I remember watching "Jack the Giant Slayer" (the live action movie with CG giants) thinking that "wouldn't it have been cool if they made miniatures from the giant's? I reckon they looked ace!

Their are a multitude of other movies with beasties in them that would look great gracing our tabletops. If we can come up with enough of a list then maybe, just maybe, some of the super talented sculptors that we are lucky enough to have on our forum will be motivated to fulfill some of our mini dreams? That sounds so corny, doesn't it :)

Corny perhaps but we all (some secretly perhaps) have dreams about potential miniatures. I'd quite like a giant miniature full-stop - I haven't even one - but if someone were to sculpt one for us I'd be on it.

I'd also rather like a miniature version of the creepy alien guys from that film I saw a while ago... that I can't remember the name of - one of them was played by the Crystal Maze chap, Richard O'Brien, in dark glasses. Like this -> 8-) , but without the smile!

Dark City?

Dark City?

Yep, he was Mr Hand.

I'd like some Labyrinth style goblins, it's odd to me that there isn't someone doing a full range as they're such great concepts.
Plus having watched Mad Max last weekend a selection of the amazing vehicles would be great too! I'm hoping that there'll be a resurgence of wasteland gang models generally so I can get my ash wastes on!

Smiler: Yes and yes. Oakbound have both planned, but probably not very very soon. There are quite a lot of nice Labyrinthesque goblins around though. Try the Nightfolk from Northumbrian Toy Soldier. Hopefully we'll have our Redcap and Hobgbolin out soon that are based on Froud's goblins.

That's great news! After rewatching labyrinth a few weeks ago and not being able to find much I thought of you as the man for the job, your sculpting style is perfect for it! I'll have a look at those Nightfolk, might tide me over til your release :)

As for Mad Max stuff the design on that film was amazing, it was like watching a live action Gorkamorka but better. Are you looking at doing gangers and vehicles?

I very much agree with your sentiments on the new Mad Max. It was a fantastic action movie, proving that CG can't (ATM) replace "real life" props. The gaming/kitbashing potential I saw in that movie was nothing short of phenomenal!

I avoided all the hype and trailers so it was a pleasant surprise that there's so little CGI, hopefully the popularity of it will mean we don't have to wait too long for another film! I'm resisting buying the art book...

There's an art book?!!!! Amazing... We're working on a dystopian skirmish/roleplay system (PM me if you'd like to be included in the playtest group) which centres around "Trash Running", that is smuggling precious waste through enemy territory for conversion back to usable raw materials... recycling was never so much fun! Have only just started the vehicle rules, but I want Trash Runs to play out very much like Mad Max style vehicle chases.

The book is just called The Art of Mad Max: Fury Road, apparently has a lot of the concept art http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Art-Mad-Max-Fury/dp/1783298162.

I was planning on mashing together Gorkamorka, the Ash Wastes stuff for Necromunda and Inquisimunda to get a game set on an ex-industrial Imperial world that is now a wreck strewn wasteland where human techno tribes in scrap vehicles mix with eldar pirates, ork raiders and AdMech recovery teams.

Wow, they're pretty great but the unhelmeted ones have too similar faces! Does this effect your plans to sculpt some Fimm?

Nope, the plan keeps rolling. But since I have such a lot going on I don't know when I'm going to get on to these. At present the plan is to release Myeri Coral Knights and a Fae Rade to coincide with the publication of the first The Woods roleplay book (autumn hopefully) then to work towards a second roleplay book focussing on the Gnomic/Goblin conflict and release Kobolds, Redcaps, Hobgoblins, Gnomes and Coblynau to accompany it. In amongst that though I'm still working on the Factious Waste skirmish rules, getting Tripods! to an expanded release, developing two dungeon bash systems, working on Chico's Dorfs, getting married (nearly there with that one!), pulling together as much as I can for BOYL, writing a dissertation and holding down a full-time job... so yeah, bit unsure of when anything's going to happen right now! ;)

Edit: By the by, since we've mentioned Mad Max, the Factious Waste stud is very heavily inspired by that and I need to a)test the rules we've got and b) work on the vehicle system so that a game of FW feels like a Mad Max film. If anyone wants to jump on board the playtest crew and get free access to the rules as they currently stand I'd be grateful for your ideas/input. :)
