That's my plan for next year - well sorting my garage, not yours obviously - wouldn't want to tread on another gamer's garage turf and all! Some basic insulation and neater floor and I might even sneak the odd game in...

To be fair with some carbon filters inside the printer housing it sorts out most of the fumes and I'm not there when it's printing. Not that I've done much for the last year - in fact I have no idea quite what state I left the printer in and I've not been brave enough to look. Besides the garage is full of bits being tidied up ahead of Halloween right now...
 
To anyone interested, I have had a bit of a trial of the miniature holder @Michael Stockin kindly sent me. It has worked well for me on the slotta 20 mm and 25 mm square-based metal miniatures I have tried.

I also tried a one-piece metal miniature with base that is roughly circular and 20 mm in diameter. Whilst it generally held well, I found it did drop out a couple of times towards the beginning when I was rotating the holder upside down. I ended up gripping the holder by the top around the spring-loaded clasp and didn't have it happen again. I might get a thin strip of leather or something to fashion a "grip helper" to wrap around similar bases in the clasp; my guess is that, because the clasp in the holder is designed for the angled edges of the slotta bases, it doesn't grip as securely on less angled edges.

So all up, useful for me and I think I can cobble together a solution to make it a better fit for more awkward pieces. Thanks all for your insights!
 
A bit after the fact now but I've got a golden maple one. I like the bar to steady my hand for fine details, and I've bought extra discs so can have 10 models on the go for batch painting. However I need to get around to sanding down some of the extra discs as they're too big and stick.
Apparently some of their business practices are dubious too, which I found out after buying it.

Interesting solution, I like it.

As an aside I found my pile of jewellery clamps today, I'll take a photo - if anyone wants them for the postage (probably about £4ish) they are welcome to them. I tended to find them too heavy for use, but you might like them or have another use - err like jewellery making! :)
