Definitely not the oldest SM character in production, Blackmane is older.

As for the snotlings, there's also the one with a net on the left he sems to be the second on this page here

Some recent references in there though

Thank you Asslessman :)

Yes, the Elementals did disappear, must be due to the instablity rules (P271 WFB 3rd Ed ;) )

The Games Workshop page only shows the set of Snotlings they based up for the photo shoot. Unlike as in 1986, now you can't order individual Snotlings, rather they just supply you with a mix. That mix usually had some of the old 1986 ones in, but the photograph never show all the variations you could receive in a blister pack.

The Games Workshop page shows the following 1980's Snotlings: Snotling with catapult (as you rightly pointed out, from the pump wagon, but not exclusively later on ; the Snotling with a net on the left and rear right is a C14 one from 1986; the three Snotlings with puff balls (the green ball looking things) are 1987 Pump Wagon crew, which again made it into blister packs. The rest of the Snotlings in the photograph are later additions from the 1990's, there were usually bigger sculpts, and looked more like the Goblins of latter 1990's.

Anyway, by 1987 all the old style Citadel Snotlings were made, with the later Citadel ones and the Marauder ones made in the 1990's. Incedently, the Snotlings were first released in blister packs entitled 'Micro Goblins' with Snotlings as the alternative name on the pack! :)

I can't think of any other as short lived range as the Uruk Hai, even the Space Slann lasted a few months! I think that the Marauder Miniatures Empire Reiksguard Knights were released for a while, but never really sold widely, other than that I can't think of anything else off hand.

EDIT: lol Asslessman found the net wielding Snotling too as I was typing! :)

Surprised that nobody has mentioned the Skeleton Horde!

Another one that may have slipped under the radar is the Epic scale Assault Marine. While the original plastic Tactical Marines (the ones intended for the quincunx basing) got updated from beakies to whatever the mark number of the skull-faced helmet was (40mm wide basing), that one didn't and just migrated onto the same sprue as the newer releases.

Coop

In addition the original devastator marine and terminators from Epic never got updated either.

FYI the tactical Beakies wore Mk VI Corvus Armour and were updated to the more modern Mk VII Aquila Armour

Epic Ork Nobz and Warboss didn't get updated either, but Epic had a break in between SMV2 and Epic 4Ok where you couldn't buy anything Epic new.

Thanks Goblinlee + Asslessman for id-ing. Thats really cool! Doublechecked the 2005 catalogue and indeed the painted examples are different to the b&w images. I'd assumed that their sales catalogue was WYSIWYG

C44 dreadnought spaceships (as seen in 3rd citadel compendium 1986) where still available as part of gothic. though I think the mould gathered dust for a time and was just cleaned off.

My vote's for the Arcane Architecture from 1982 that only this year disappeared from the GW website - also seen in the 1990's black catalogue so fits the 'continually available and advertised' clause.

Bizarrely, spare arms for the long out of production metal 40k terminators are still available. How many of these have sold in recent times?

Some of the GW dragons are still available too - the Nightmare Dragon appears to have only recently disappeared; some of the Tom Meier GW / Partha sculpts are available from Iron Wind. Do Foundry WoTR count?

Yeah, that was oop for a few years, I remember it being re-released when I was there, in about '91. The arcane architecture that someone else mentioned was definitely oop at that point too, as I actually got some cast up from a master mould I found knocking around.
