Michaels 25mm WFB Stuff...

Nice touch with the eye shadow. I love the way the colours on the palette and the colours on the desk match!

Exceptionally good looking face, perhaps your best work so far, you reckon? Don't know why but I've always enjoyd seeing minis in their partially painted state like this, maybe because the painted parts pop out so strongly against base coat.

Thank you. I think I will be hard pushed to best the face of my farmer. Though I really like my wizard, slightly red nose from the drink, yellow staining on his moustache from the pipe, decent eyes, and I even managed to paint a few lines on his fingernails.

My ultimate goal is to combine the best bits of various miniatures into one magnum opus, though I suspect I am not skilled enough for anything that good, plus my eyes are definitely worsening with age.

Having said that. Thank you again for your kind words.

Had a look at the two Johanneses to refresh my memory and yeah, those are some excellent faces. Very subtle with highlights and shading making them look like they could be faces from old portraits. I guess final verdict on who's the pretties face will be given once the countess is finished. :)

I even managed to paint a few lines on his fingernails.
I've also painted that wizard and had to dug it out just to see how ridiculously small detail we are talking about. As someone who has tried to paint distal edge of nails and filthy teeth on some minis, I can appreciate your madness of going for such detail.

though I suspect I am not skilled enough for anything that good, plus my eyes are definitely worsening with age.
Nonsense.

Worsening eyesight on the other hand really sucks, but luckily there are things like magnifying glasses to try and tackle the problem and keep on painting.

Question:

So.

I currently have 15 helblitzen and 10 Erzatsolder.

I want to get a unit of these up to 25 to help with rank bonuses for fighting undead.
But what unit to increase.
I have enough unpainted Erzatsolder to make them 15.

So they are both sort of the same.
I also want my Erzatsolder to 15 models minimum anyway.

So let us assume that they are both 15 models strong, which would you increase and why?
The Erzatsolder have what in my mind is the most important banner, but I prefer the look of the Helblitzen banner.
I am not adverse to swapping the fluff/background around to swap the banners.

Nothing is set in stone until the first game is played.

But which unit to make the core?

I THINK there are potentially more hand weapon models out there in the wild I can afford/get than halberds, but halberds seem cooler?

Ha ha. Another option.

The family banner which is currently in the Erzatsolder could instead be the Army Standard.

In this case the Army Standard is not part of that unit but instead is always next to the Count.
They move around waving the Army Standard and granting bonuses to nearby units.

The erzatsolder could then have a more mundane banner and be 15 strong. Or indeed no banner.

The Helblitzen could be 25 strong with the next coolest banner.

Feel free to completely ignore me. I am thinking out loud

Wife to Count Halven, the Countess Carmilla Halven is the apple of the counts eye and as pretty as they day they were wed.

With the Count spending time in the capital, patrolling the locale and otherwise keeping the area safe (and partially in some measure to him not being that way minded) , the Countess looks after the Halven estate.

From the day to day running, including but not limited to book-keeping, magisterial duties, tax setting and collection, inspections, hearing petitions etc, to also marshalling and inspecting the garrison in times of conflict.

She is a mostly content woman and has no desire to increase the Halven lands.
Like the Count she follows the old faith of The Mother (Rhya) and The Father (Taal).

Here we can see her with a small doll stuffed with herbs and seeds and so on, which is to be placed in one the villages many small shrines.
Heiligsheld has a number of shrines dotted around and these are kept to help ensure a good harvest and ward off blight.

The Countess Mont.png

The cat is called Fighelm, and is a bit scraggly but very affectionate. It rarely leaves Carmilla's side.

The Countess is very hands on and as such rarely wears the sort of clothes you would expect from someone of her standing, she wears what is practical and comfortable, hence the hem of her skirt is a little tatty, though Fighelm may also be responsible for this.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: I struggled to get a photo that captures the look of the actual model.
The real figure has a slightly richer tone and is a bit less washed out.
I could not really capture the thread detail on the skirt either.
These images were from my camera which is what I always use, I did try an image from my phone, and whilst warmer and richer it was much more saturated than the actual model and in truth looked some bad AI slop with that crappy filter that AI has.

I guess there is a reason why people make a living being photographers!

But if anyone wants to see what any of my models actually look like, please do pop around for a cuppa.
