So.
Now I have worked out how the village proper has formed, time to begin on the main building, the Inn.
3 tubes of budget superglue and 5 hours later:
Still quite a bit left to do.
I need to fill in each window pane.
Make the shutters.
Do the doors.
Cut all the roof tiles and slap them on.
Then do the plaster/render stuff.
Then details like signs, chimney etc.
Then base it and paint it.
Then do the stables, then do another joining template, or maybe for this do it as one larger complete build?
Time for sherry and crap TV now though.
It is of course based on the Townscape one, but not a faithful recreation as that would be way too fiddly.

I can never remember what it is called. Foam PVC? I think a brand name is foamex. It is sort of like plasticard, but lighter, and way easier to work with.

Thanks, I'll look it up. I want to start making more terrain, but my old ones were just card and polyfilla. They worked but were certainly solid!

Foam board is great for modelling, was something quite mysterious in my childhood but once you find a supply in an arts / craft shop you will appreciate the benefits!

👍Most people, in my experience, use bog standard foamcore AKA foam board which is available in various thicknesses (including 2mm) and colours. Am I right in thinking the stuff you use doesn't have paper sandwiching the foam?

Correct, it is sort of like plasticard meets that blue insulation foam.
I prefer it as it is light, can be glued with wood glue or superglue. But not liquid polystyrene cement which is a shame, and it scores easily if you want to texture it a bit:
And it is so easy to cut.
I found foamboard too thick (nice to know you can get 2mm thickness though, I am used to the big sheets at Hobbycraft, maybe 6mm thick or summat?) and the paper backing vexed me, plus it was easy to dent/bend/squish.

No, it sprays fine. Well at least with the Humbrol cans I use.

At the risk of being a mad fanboi, it is like a wonder material. The only possible negative is that liquid poly glue does not work.
