Michaels 25mm WFB Stuff...

So my last few updates were about mojo loss and the scale of Warm Ale and Mud potentially being the cause, with so much left to do, and how doing a mini Mordheim would help regain the mojo as such a project would be much smaller and easier to complete.

I even bought some models for it.
BUT…

That is another project and will just delay Warm Ale and Mud.

The thought of two projects bummed me out.
Then realisation hit.
It is painting the undead that is causing the issue. So many more models to do.. bleurgh.

So I started making a field as I want to have my table look less lawn like and more countryside like.
The field has zero game mechanics attached, it does not affect movement or LOS. It is just there to make the table top look nicer.
It is hard to tell, but it is not completely flat either, it is very slightly undulating, maybe this will be easier to see later...

Like I say nothing special, but when the table is set out with this and the farm and barn, and other fields and what not, it should be pretty nice.

This then prompted me to start the barn that is needed to ‘complete’ the Pertwee Farmhouse LINKY
Here is the build of the barn, based on the Townscape one:

As with my recreations of the amazing Townscape buildings they are not strict recreations, on the barn for example I did not like the corner stones that are shown so I opted to ignore those as I don’t think it fits.

Other than that it is pretty similar.

I mucked up the roof though and had to fill some gaps with plasticine covered in modelling paste.

Hopefully when done it will be unnoticeable.

Also a shout out to Merijn of Another Wargaming Blog for confirmation around the sizes.

He does great Townscape stuff!

I did my windows the patented way which got me thinking…

When I eventually do the bigger buildings, some of which have many windows I am debating making a few and then casting them myself, as they are slow work.

I used to sell resin terrain back in the day so I know how to do it, the question is though, would you buy them?

Resin cast windows of various sizes and doors?

Anyway, it turns out that my love of terrain making saved the day, things are being done again and it all it seems it took was the threat of another project.

What does that mean for Mordheim?

Back burner, but the Witch Hunter is coming to town, that is a mini game I have wanted to play since the inception.

Nice field. You probably need difficult and very difficult ground as well to slow movement down a bit. Tall crops & boggy ground, perhaps?

Stirland has glass‽ I'm surprised that they can rustle up the coin for it. Small window openings with bars & sturdy shutters are surely what's needed on the wilder fringes.

P.S. Congrats on the return of the mojo.

I have plenty of that already, in fact it was the fact I have no terrain just for the looks that prompted this.

Cheeky bugger!!

P.S. Congrats on the return of the mojo.

Thanks, I should have just waited, we all go through phases right?

I have been working on my undead (or rather Samantha’s undead) and have done the front rank.

The banner reflects both our love of Hammer Horror films and the fact we totally fancy Ingrid Pitt.

It may or may not also foreshadow a character yet to come.

Every Saturday night is Hammer Horror double bill night with crisps and dip.
Here is this Saturdays billing:

Mikeal Jacsen is the leader of the undead infantry, and as you may or may not know the model is based on Michael Jackson.
We know this not only from the name, but also his hair is on fire as happened to Michael Jackson when filming a Pepsi advert.
We can also deduce this is him from the fact that in Terror of the Lichemaster he leads zombies, which is of course a nod to his Thriller video.
That and it describes him as “In death Jacsen was a great dark skeleton, long and thin with a skull that burned with an unnatural light, and from in between his huge dead teeth there issued a foul, thin shriek that few could listen to without sickening.

So there we have it, given all that I did paint mine with a skull that is whiter than those of his companions and despite it being near impossible to see, I did paint a white glove on his hand, for reasons.

As for the shield, whilst it should be a black dragon on a red background, doing it this way helps it fit the Sylvanian motif.

white glove proof, before adding the shield.

Those are amazing! I love Jacksen's shield free hand in particular, and the rust is perfect.

When the second rank gets painted, consider swapping the positions of the second left and central model so the former doesn't stand directly in front of his double (although that arrangement does suit backing dancers...).

Thanks.
I just noticed I painted over the dragons eye, must re-do that.

I will have to see if the basing allows.
I am still debating as to if the guy holding his own head up should go a rank back, that way him holding his head up for a better view makes more sense, again, will see if the basing allows.
