Michaels 25mm WFB Stuff...

I have done the second of my three undead units, some archers.
I am using the simple dark red and black scheme of dread Sylvania, as was hinted on the banner of the zombies.
However where the zombies are just any old peasants risen from the dead, the skeleton archers are former soldiers and as such the remains of their uniforms can be seen.

I was not sure if to stick with the darker dying grass and brown fern bases as in my mind the putridness of the zombies decaying bodies helped this theme make sense, where as the skeletons are just dry bones.

So whilst the zombies clearly make worse the land upon which they walk (shamble) do the skeletons?
I decided yes, they are dead and animated by foul magics so they have the taint of death and decay about them, plus also the army would look odd if the bases were not all the same.

So here they are:

Lovely work with skellies and zombies. Freehand on banner and replicating it on zombie champion's(?) shield are especially nifty looking.
Is the banner bearer from citadel or somewhere else?

Hi.

Thank you!

Like all my banner dudes he is a conversion. I had to check underneath the base and upon discovering a lack of slotta base tab I found it was this chap:

Or possibly this very similar one:

With my Stirland lads I collected the whole force in advance, as I knew what I was aiming for.
I have now purchased the final unit for the Undead chaps and it is mostly the old Nightmare Legion models.

I was looking for old original shields for them, but people want silly money so I have been slicing the boss off these shields and they will do fine, especially when they all have the hand painted designs on them…..

And I made a start on the swordsmen, there are some great sculpts in there.

The astute may notice that my my Stirland lads are made up mostly of swordsmen and halberdiers, as are my undead.
There is a mocking parody of sorts afoot.
Love this chap, I was tempted to place him at the back so that holding is head up to get a better view makes more sense, I still may.
