Michaels 25mm WFB Stuff...

Totally cool, in fact a good example of what I think is more than acceptable fair use. So by comparison a link to a PDF scan of the entire book would have been a nope, a snap of the contents is very much fair game as would say a snap of a page as an example of the sort of content in the book.

I quite like the 2nd ed books for the background as an inspiration is nothing else.

And Now For Something Completely Pantry

Having recently finished my Fleglers I reached the stage of only having a single unit left to paint.
But…. it is the largest unit of my force, daunted by the hours it will take to do (approx 120 hours, 8 hours a figure and 15 figures) I looked for a distraction.

Warm Ale and Mud is my long term project and will chronicle the various events that happen to the good folk of Heiligsheld, culminating in a might battle for survival against the undead hordes of neighbouring Sylvania.

However that is not all the games will be, there has already been the Orc raid led by Scrotter Brokenstaff and soon there will be Trolls at the Door, when a wandering troll comes to pay a visit.

Here is the self named Felsbloch the interloping sheep stealing troll.

Being a player of WFB 3rd edition in days before River trolls, Swamp trolls, Stone trolls and even internet trolls, trolls was just trolls.
Normally brown or green in colour; and as we all know, proper trolls are green, so yes, whilst a later edition model and officially blue I went for green, cos it pleased me to do so.

It has been about 30 years or more since I painted a figure this large and the blending between the scales and skin is ok, in some areas it is a bit iffy but in other areas I feel it is quite nice.
Overall it was a nice change of pace but I guess I need to start on that big unit now.

Or maybe…

I have hit a stumbling block/post/brick thingy.

Being newish to 25mm and freehandery, I did my first banner as seen here as a modest easy not too ambitious affair.
It is the emblem of the surrounding areas ruling family and the bones are holy relics as detailed on my site here:

https://angelbarracks.co.uk/25mm.html

However I now need to do a banner/standard for my helblitzen unit.
Before I planned either unit I made the pole which as you can see is larger, however I do not want this standard to outshine the counts own household banner so I am not sure what to do.

I could do a simple long wavy pennant type thing or maybe some sort of not flag attached, but what?

Your suggestions please…

Thanks for the suggestions.
I think I have a plan.

My setting background talks about the history of Imre Jenz and how his bones are taken from storage and hung from the counts banner as holy relics when they march into battle.
Inspiring the troops to deeds of bravery.

Magical Banner:

WARD OF THE BRAVE
This banner allows the unit to re-roll any Rout test.
You may only re-roll a test once.
It may be used again on subsequent tests.

It also talks about how Imre defended a shrine from the forces of chaos.

Keeping with that theme I am likely going to have the Helblitzen banner be a standard and actually be the bell from the destroyed and abandoned shrine.

It keeps to the theme of the holiness of the defence of the shrine and I reckon with it being a holy bell, giving it the magical ability of :

WARBANNER
Adds 1 to the HTH resolution total to see who won that round.

So before I go and buy a pack of 25 small bells from ebay (I would make one but I have enough to do as it is), does anyone have a single smallish bell about the size of a large 25mm mans head at all they can flog/swap?
