Welcome to my (hopefully, but not likely) award-winning thread!

My entry for this contest will be a Great Unclean One I'm painting as a gift for my Usual Opponent. I've already primed it, and painted the horns just to be able to say I've started the thing. I also painted the blade. I kind of doubt either of those parts will still look like that when I'm done, but oh well.


I don't mind saying I've never painted anything like this before, and I'm moderately nervous. I plan to use IG Kid's airbrush to paint most of the surface a tan color to match UO's other Nurgle forces. The horns may end up black or very dark brown when I'm done. We'll see.

I very quickly dry-brushed some pink on the open wounds, mainly as a bit of a test.


I saw some online videos where someone made extensive use of sponge dry-brushing. So I may try that a bit more.

According to some brief research one of this guy's epithets is the Wind of Nurgle. With those buttocks I can well believe it.

Sunday I applied some dark and moderately light browns using a sponge. It seems to be a really great way of covering large areas, but it can be very tricky trying to get it into certain parts of the model - like under the sword arm and the horns.

Looks pretty promising, though. This is still very preliminary work, of course. I'm mostly just throwing paint on and seeing how it looks. I'm going to see if I can get a different sponge to reach some of those hard-to-reach areas.
