Big Mister Tongue's Steel City Heroes

Mike Tongue, the master-sculptor from Chesterfield has bowled us all over here at Lead & Steel HQ by sending this package over, bursting with great minis for next year's show.

He'll be selling his Steel City Heroes on the day, but he's also provided us with a couple of complete sets and enough of the Steel-Worker teams for every winner in the Led & Steel Painting Competition to receive one as a prize.

They set features minis based on famous statues of figures in the Sheffield steel industry and notable pioneers in other important fields too.

BLOODY HELL - WE'RE FULLY BOOKED!

You heard that correctly, guys and girls, we've only gone and filled up the gaming tables that we have available for Lead & Steel 2027.

But that doesn't mean you can't still come along and play, as many of our games are participation, and do you can come along and jump in.

Over the next few weeks we'll be finalising the games and letting you know what you can get involved with so you can choose the armies and minis you bring along.

And if we get any cancellations, we'll let you know about that too.

Remember that Lead & Steel 2027 will be happening on 03/04/27 at Crookes Social Club in Sheffield.

ATTENTION FOR FAR CORFE

If you want to take part in our massive, "Necromunda but we added vehicles!" participation game the theme this year is FAR CORFE: BACK TO HELL

The Baddies and the Bugs of the Badlands are going to need to team up (for a given value of "teamwork") against the demonic hell mouth that has opened up in the middle of Far Corfe!

The full scenario book to follow, with gang creation rules, but I know some of you like to start early either building, or digging through your collection.

You can either be a Baddies Gang, a Bug Gang, or a Hellraiser Gang.

Baddies are your standard Gang, so you just need to gather whatever human (or almost human) models you have.

Bugs Gangs consist of people and Bugs, like genestealers.

Unlike last year, Bugs Gangs will have access to as many vehicles as Baddies as the bug holes have been eaten by the Hellmouth

Hellraisers will be both cultists and demons, and OF COURSE there will be demonic customisation.

Its why the scenario pack is taking so long!

Hellraisers will have fewer vehicles as there will be Hellmouths around the table for them.

It's only fair.

If you have spare demons, our Games Master Mike would always welcome a few around to throw randomly out of Hellmouths at unsuspecting gangers.

BIG CHANGES for 2027;

- All ranges limited to 24" max. It wasn't fun getting sniped across the table.

- YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR HEAVY WEAPONS ON VEHICLES. Last Far Corfe turned into an autocannon battle which isn't the intent. So everyone is going to be a lot less heavily armed.

- Fighters will either Recover or Die at the end of a round. None of this crawling around business.

We hope you join us in telling those demons to Far Corfe Back To Hell!

Old School Miniatures are Onboard for Lead & Steel 2027

Old School Miniatures are surely a name that you know well if you're at all into metal minis with a retro twist to them, and that also means that they're a perfect fit for Lead & Steel too.

Luckily for us, the folks at OSM agree one hundred percent, and they've very kindly sent us 100 of their gnomes, one to go in each of the goody bags that we'll be giving away to the first one hundred attendees through the doors at Lead & Steel 2027.

And as if that wasn't enough, they've also sent us a warband of their new, super spikey goblin javelin-throwers to give away as one of the prizes in the Lead & Steel 2027 Painting Competition too.

So if you want a gnome and the chance to win some goblins, make sure you're there at Crookes Social Club on 03/04/27 for Lead & Steel - Oldhammer Sheffield 2027.

Is there a way to book/reserve a place in any available participation games?

I know the big Necomunda game is open access, which is great, but it sounds like tere are plenty of other games going on. Are these open? How do we join in if they are?

My eternal frustration/fear is travelling all the way up to these vents, to then be left twiddling my thumbs because I missed the chance to jump in to something

I get the anxiety and FOMO, believe me!

At the moment we're in the stage where people have clamoured to get the tables booked and most of them haven't actually told me what they're going to be specifically playing on the day, so we're in the same position as you are right now.

Hopefully I'll start to get more details in the next month or so and we can post updates when we find out if a game is going to be open to players dropping in.

I can tell you that, as you mentioned, Far Corfe is compeletely open to anyone that wants to play and we're hoping to have Buff This 2141 in the demo-games room, along with other smaller indie games that the makers want to show off.

The Army Painter Sponsors the Lead & Steel 2027 Painting Competition

We were blown away this year when The Army Painter told us they wanted to put up prizes for the 2026 Lead & Steel Painting Competition, and then they went and did it again by saying they wanted to do it again in 2027.

This year they've sent us a complete set of the awesome John Blanche Masterclass paint sets, so someone's going to get the chance to win all four of them - if you enter the Painting Competition, that is.

So get painting and bring your entry along to Crookes Social Club on 03/04/27. The categories are Single Mini, Unit and Large Mini (monster, vehicle, etc.), and the winners will be announced around 3:00pm on the day.

Again, we'd like to say thank you to The Army Painter for making such amazing products and being such staunch supporters of the Oldhammer community and indie gaming in general.

Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity is the official charity partner for Lead & Steel 2027

We're happy to announce that Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity have agreed to work with us here at Lead & Steel to give back to a worthy cause in the community.

So if you come along to Lead & Steel on 03/04/27 at Crookes Social Club and find that you've got a bit of change in your pocket, please consider dropping it into one of the collecting tins.

Sheffield Children's Hospital has been a vital institution for more than a hundred years, treating children from not just Sheffield, but all over the UK, and we're proud to have been given the chance to support them in the essential work that they do and the lives that they save.

Culverin Models will be in the Lead & Steel 2027 Goody Bags and contributing a prize for the Painting Competition

Culverin Models are long time friends of Lead & Steel that won't be there in person on the day, but will be supporting the event by putting one of their Mushroom Men miniatures in every goody bag that we'll be giving away.

And in addition they've blown us away by offering one of their 28mm Stone Castle kits as a prize for the Painting Competition too. Yeah, that's right - you could win an entire flipping castle!

Lead & Steel 2027 will take place on 03/04/27 at Crookes Social Club, and we'll have 100 goody bags to give to the first 100 attendees on the day. The Painting Competition features three categories (single mini, unit and large mini) and is judged on the day, so bring your entries along if you want to enter.

And keep your eyes on our social media, as we have plenty more prizes to announce before April 2027 comes round.

Colour Forge are onboard for Lead & Steel 2027

We're really chuffed to be able to announce that Sheffield-based makers of fine spray cans Colour Forge have sent us a selection of their products and told us to put them in the hands of worthy gamers.

And so we've decided to put them up as prizes in the Painting Competition taking place at Lead & Steel 2027, so if you want them for yourself, you'd better get your entry into the competition.

Imperial Steelworkers - available at Lead & Steel 2027

Big Mister Tongue amazed us when he came up with a diorama based on the famous Sheffield steelworkers immortalised in one of the city's statues, and when we sent one to Berlintuesday Studio, he amazed us all over again with the job that he did on it.

These guys are going to be available on the day of the show (03/04/27 at Crookes Social Club), where Big Mister Tongue will be selling them as part of his Steel City Heroes boxed sets.

Alternatively we have one to give away to each of the winners of the Lead & Steel Painting Competition, in addition to many other great prizes as well.
