Thanks all!
The water in the diorama was made with these steps below, summerone.
- Paint the surface with a bright silver.
- Once dry, use two different blue'ish contrast paints to paint over the silver parts. A brighter one for near the shore, and a darker one for deeper water. Have some fun while applying the paint to make the surface "come alive", like letting some parts of the surface pool with paint to create a sort of texture.
- Once dry, apply UV Water Resin over the surface while controlling the flow with a UV torch (a small flashlight made for that purpose).
- I had some acrylic bases left over and cut them to pieces to create small shards of ice, painted with a blue'ish contrast paint to give them a colder look. These were then glued onto the resin once the resin was dry. The pieces then got a coat of gloss varnish and a sprinkle of snow flock.
- Lastly I applied clumps of Valhallan Blizzard snow texture to some parts of the acrylic ice pieces.
Yes, that is correct, Brother Meredith! They are lovely miniatures. I have had them in blisters for a decade after backing a Kickstarter.
Also, here is my latest addition to the army.
[Thorgrim Ulleksson]
Later more known under his more legendary name Thorgrim Grudgebearer. He is a named special character for The Old World, and this younger version of the character has no iconic throne to sit on so I had to get creative with a sitting version of the character and sculpt a might pair of cheeks for him. Now he is ready to lead the dwarfs to right all the wrongs that are recorded in that great book of grudges of his!
