Here's my first effort, courtesy of the JB book cover from McDeath
I have pretty much all the figures featured in this image, but apart from Klinty the Treeman hadn't painted them yet.
The first is Julia McEwan. This is a brilliant figure of a very cool character sculpted presumably by Jez Goodwin. I didn't especially enjoy painting her because I'm crap at painting armour and mail. I am fairly happy with the finished result though. I love her massive hair, reminds me of ace England rugby player Ellie Kildunne.
The paintjob is a lot brighter than it looks, but the sun went in just as I took my pictures.

Aw man, I did her years ago now! Black leather, I think, is the name of the game. Red is always a good contrast color, and very Blanche, but I went with a cold palette in her case. Excellent choice, in any case.

Done at the back end of last month, but hopefully that's only a minor lynching offense. I did Juggo in accordance with the cardboard cutout colour scheme in the WHFB2 boxed set.
I had planned on following John's step by step dwarf painting guide from one of the first white dwarfs i had as a kid, which i had tried to follow at the time (with predictable success). But I couldn't find the figure in the lead pile. It's there somewhere...
So my favourite blue haired alcoholic berserker stepped up.
It has also become apparent in painting Juggo that most of my metallic paints need to go in the bin...

Some lovely models. Very nice. Banners and badges done, so grab 'em while they are hot. And as ever if you want to offer up something a wee bit more creative please do shout, but I thought the sketch Manic had found and offered up in the tribute thread would serve for the banner, not that John had quite the neck position of an orc or marine (in armour) in real life of course!

But you are right of course, having painted one figure i now have a voice in my head saying i need to obsessively build that board (waterfalls, cliffs, jungle, ruined ziggurates and all....) and collect all the original figures. As it stands I think i have Sven and riolta so there's some way to go. I may need to use the kids' university money for the slann. Which will be worth it, of course!
As for that scenario, I do have issues. Even now, after years of modelling it still seems an aspirational battle.
