The Vagabond and the TARDIS
I grew up with Doctor Who being a cultural cornerstone, like Star Wars, Star Trek Battlestar Galactica - it just always formed part of my worldview and probably still does. And one thing you learn early on is that the TARDIS is a Police Box, stuck in that form because of it's busted Chameleon Circuit.
So I kind of sat up and paid attention when the music video for "Doctorin the Tardis" came on the TV, because it obviously had something to do with Doctor Who. There was the samples from the themetune, even Darleks made out of teacrates - but then there was this beat-up Crown Vic cop car.
It was obviously the protagonist of the video, smashing through the hapless Daleks and driving off into the sunset, and yet nobody explained what the hell it was or what was going on. In my head I reasoned that it was supposed to be driven by the Doctor, or at least another Timelord, and therefore it was probably a TARDIS.
Maybe not THE TARDIS, but a different one that had a functioning Chameleon Circuit, hell it didn't even have to be the Doctor behind the wheel. Years later I cooked up the character of "The Vagabond" (or "The Caitiff" if you're more up on your Elizabethan slang than the average person), a Tmelord of my own for a fanfic.
I looked for a 1/42 Crown VIc cop car all over the place, but then saw that Crooked Dice were doing one of their own, so I bought one when I was feeling flush and teamed it up with a Mark Copplestone sculpt that I felt fitted with one of the Vagabond's regenerations.

nice.. but your info on Doctor Who is.. slightly off..
apart from a kinda reference to the camouglage unit during the William Hartnell's run, you don't learn it's the Chameleon Circuit until Logopolis, which is about half way through the shows life. (last Tom Baker headed story). That said, it was used in one of the old Radio stories from back in the 1960s where there was the Electronic Chameleon System.
Anyway, It got mostly fixed during Colin Baker's run (Attack of the Cybermen) but... debatably broke again. I'm trying to remember if they comment on it being broken in the Tribe of Gum... They might in The Time Meddler...

"Bootleg BOYLE" the official miniature of Bootleg BOYL 2026
Since BOYL was unfortunately cancelled this year, I got together with some friends in the Nottingham area and organised a replacement event that will take place on 08/08/26 at Fishergate Point.
Jon Boyce of Magpie & Old Lead was good enough to step in and offer this mini as a freebie to be given away to those attending on the day and Curtis at Ramchackle games kindly cast it for us.
Jon got one to me ahead of time, and this is my take on the mini - a little more colourful than his...

Mutant, Merchant and Mercenary - three minis by Mammoth Miniatures
Every time I see Nick at a show with his incredible range I always end up asking him what new sci-fi stuff he's got on sale, and so I usually have a couple of his minis on the desk, based and primed, waiting to be painted up.
After I got off finishing the last commission I had, I made a point of putting a basecoaton these guys so I could go back and finish them as soon as the mood took me - and here's the result.
One more mutant to go with the gang of four I painted previously, a pretty sweet sci-fi civilian and an officer for another squad of Space Bastards that I have to get painted up too.
Check Mammoth out, they're a great source for offbeat and interesting sci-fi and fantasy minis.
