I am coming to BOYL 2025

But I am a bit shy/self conscious and have a feeling that some oldhammer people are not keen on me based on interactions elsewhere, plus I feel a bit like the new kid and worry about acceptance and all that sort of stuff.
Are these valid concerns, am I being paranoid?

this will be my 6th BOYL now - in a row...and I can tell you that 99% if people are nice. I was a bit nervous too...but so long as you :

- Are Polite ad supportive
- Not Too loud and opinionated
- Wash and use deodorant - (some people struggle with this)

You'll find that new friends are easy to make. theres amazing cabinets to look at...a huge range of miniatures to buy, loads of games and food and drink...

You'll be fine.

Alas something has come up and I will be unable to attend, many apologies to @Leromides whose game I was meant to be in.
Aw man! So sorry. It sounds like it's nothing negative, and maybe whatever you're doing is even better than BOYL. I know. Hard to believe, but . . . I did have a wedding once, for instance. I would not have missed that, even for BOYL. Good luck with whatever you are doing, and I hope we meet somewhere else down the track. You've certainly added a lot to this forum, and I'm glad to have you on it.

Be well!

AARGH! I only just saw the Foundry announcement about the date, Is there any room for a small 40k unit on a table on Sunday? I can field small teams of Ratling bounty hunters, space pirates, a unit of drunk marines with a waiter, a recon Imperial army unit if there's any space...

Have a look through the schedules published on https://www.bringoutyourlead.co.uk/ and you can see what games are running. Although tracking down who is running each game is a bit more hit and miss depending on who you know and where they hang out. Some games have a presence here, others Facebook, others on various discord servers etc. Beyond that some of the skirmish type games are more "on the day" open so to speak.

That's great to know, thanks Eric. I'll bring a few small teams, for skirmishing. It looks like Lewis Davies, Ted Snowdon, Steve Gott or James Moore would be the guys to speak with but I don't know either. I'm not on Facebook, but I had reached out to Garth about the tables so he may help.

i can offer you this: https://forum.oldhammer.org/threads/karras-vengeance.39032/
i'm also looking to see if I can fit a small rogue trader force in the car in the hopes that the rogue trader throwdown is open play.

Hopefully by next year I'll have written some booking software for Garth, I had hoped to do it for this year, but best laid plans and all that! One aspect there was better facilitating links/contacts for each game so they were easier to enquire about.

There are a few games being organised here - so anyone who pops by regularly may drop you a line, our own @twisted moon I think was after one more player possibly. Then there are also some adhoc games going on. I was thinking I might take my spare copy of Chaos Marauders along since it's been years since I played and see if anyone was up for a round or two in a corner!

@ramshackle_curtis is running a skirmish game which I think is a bit more "turn up with a war band" on the day. He's not been very active here over recent years, but is very active in the community running Ramshackle Games, and was lovely when I met him last year.

That looks great, cheers. The hobbits are such low points value that I can bring the whole army to a WFB skirmish (and they'll still lose). I can't do Saturday but either Friday PM or Sunday should be OK.

I only played 1st Ed of Rogue Trader and 2nd Ed WFB so I'll pick up any later rules as we go.
