The creators of the Oldhammer podcast came up with co-operative rules for a team game vs an autopilot horde.
I've adapted it for 2e rules, and it seems to be pretty fun! It focuses on controlling Objective markers (5 on the board initially) which earns you Supply Points to spend at the beginning of your turn for reinforcements, fortifications, artillery/bombing strikes, and other aids to the battle.
The Horde army deploys in spawn zones opposite the player deployment zone, with one spawning zone per 500 points of combined player armies - if you have three players with 500 points each (1500 points total), you get three spawning zones. If you have two players with 800 points each (1600 points total), that's four spawning zones. At the start of each turn, you roll 2d6 for each Spawning Zone and consult a table to see how many points worth of Horde units spawn in that zone.
As the game progresses, the Horde Spawns get bigger, and you draw more Misery cards (that make things harder on the Players). There's also a Secondary Objective revealed each turn, which gives extra Supply Points (or other benefits) if you accomplish them, or penalties (like extra Misery cards) if you fail.
And then each player also has a Secret Objective they must fulfill to win the game (and all, some, or none of the players can win each battle).
I've made 2e versions of the cards, and some Horde Mode specific tokens as well. There are two copies of each token on the pdf, and they are reflected across the middle of the paper so you can glue them front and back to a piece of cardboard (or other material) and cut them out to make your own tokens. The cards can be printed double-sided on cardstock. I also saved a copy of the Resupply table so you don't need to constantly refer to the rules when it's time to spend your Supply Points.
Let me know what you think.
