Here’s the recipe I use for gems and lenses:

• Abaddon Black as the base
• 2/3 Caliban Green
• 1/3 Warpstone Glow
• A tiny dot of Moot Green at the bottom
• A tiny dot of Corax White right at the top to finish it off

I’d never really realised just how absolutely covered in gems High Elves are! I’m currently painting some Silver Helms, and even a basic trooper has more than ten gems on it! It’s actually great practice… though I’m starting to feel like a full-time gem polisher!

Elves and eldar definitely do love their gems and certainly have no deficit of them. Did you add gloss varnish as final touch for that shininess on them or am I imagining things?

Matte varnish base, then gloss on the gems to make them pop, yes!
