HeroQuest: Other Heroes

ManicMan

Lord
hopefully getting ready for some questing, and been wondering about alternative heroes to give more of a range (not that the original isn't a good range).

So, we know the Original HeroQuest gives us the:
- Barbarian
- Elf
- Dwarf
- Wizard

now.. converting Advanced HeroQuest to HeroQuest for heroes.. .. well, you might as well not bother and doesn't really do much.. Gives you a 'warrior' but.. I think its just as well to use the Men-At-arms but adjust the Body and Mind points (Give them the Elf's Mind of 4 but one less on the Body so 5). This gives you some basic 'warriors' which come with a Cross bow, Halberdier, Scout and Swordsman (with great Sword) .

Ye Old Inn has a few ... so-so fan ones. White Dwarf gave Kili Thekkrson as a Dwarf Trollslayer (but as a replacement for the Dwarf) and.. kinda Pierre Chancier. I only found a couple of translations of the Brazilian 'Dragao Brasil' missions, which didn't include a couple, so I did my own work on them and formated them, and one issue also included 4 new characters:
- Amazon
- Centaur
- Fairy
- Minotaur

Anyone know any more?

Oh, for the sake of it, If anyone is interested here are my versions (translations and reformating) of four new Characters from Dragão Brasil # 12 from Trama Editorial Ltda. I'm not quite sure of the release date but around 1992 as it advertises GURPS - Imperial Rome's first release as new.

Originally, these had cut-out standee's for the characters, featuring the same art on both sides and the same as on the cards but.. I didn't see any point in dealing with them (In fact, I tried to find some nice Les Edwards images which would then match with the original heroes but.. not much luck there.

For reference:
* Amazon is the Elf, but with one extra defence die instead of Magic
* Centaur is the Dwarf, but with one extra movement die and can't remove traps
* Fairy is just the wizard. no changes.. I would personally do something with the fact she can fly but.. oh well
* Minotaur is the Barbarian, but with one extra body point and one less mind point. which is not really much of a trade off.

The intro text for them just says.. after some quests you might get bored with the same heroes, so here are four new ones which are completely different from before... though as I stated above.. that isn't really the case.. they point out that the Amazon and Fairy are female and Centaur and Minotaur are monsters. fair enough I guess.. no clue on the artist..

And because I really like the 'readers Scrolls' letters page little cartoons (too many modern gaming mags and some gamers hate having fun ¬_¬), here is a nice one from that issue.. no clue as to the artist.. I would probably need to translate WAY more then I can be bothered to in order to find out.. and I don't speak Brazilian (used a couple of online translators together and some editing skills.. I've done translation projects in the past as a editor.. though there might be the odd spelling mistake ^_^ )
