Hi all,

I recently picked up a job lot of goblins and found this guy at the bottom but I have no idea where he came from. Can you help?

Looking at the paint which has flecked off the guy, is the whole base metal? I've seen metal trapezoidal bases once before, but only once in 30 years.

Yep the base is solid metal… I haven’t seen anything like it

I bought this guy as a "Hooded Orc" (I remember the name of the mini) in 1993 or 94, but I don't recall the brand it was sold under. So they may or may not be from the same manufacturer, the underside of the base doesn't look too different.

seen cast metal bases before.. personally, they look more like the miniatures have been attached to the bases afterwards but hard for me to say..

I saw some similar orcs on eBay just now… looks like you’re right they aren’t one piece with the base… I have looked all through the lotr minis on Stuff of Legends but couldn’t find it…

it (and atleast most shown in that picture) aren't from any LOTRs range. seller just saying that to sell them.

I'm pretty sure the figure is probebly Marauder or early-ish Citadel.. and i don't think that's Kev Adams work..

Does Inquisition Miniatures in South Australia ring any bells? Their Orc code IO43 is described as “in Hooded Robe w. Poleaxe” though, sadly, there is no photo on the Lost Minis Wiki.

Some Inquisition Orcs appear to have had square metal bases. Code IO38 is described as “w. Hunting Beast” but there’s no photo of it either.

you beat me to it with the inquisition suggestion. the ratmen i have from them have integral metal bases just like that.
ral partha also have square metal bases, but they are separate with pegs on the miniature's feet going into round holes in the base.

interesting.. while i can't find proof and the time doesn't seam quite right.. some seam to report that inquisition went under because Games Workshop noticed they were making models designed to be the same style as there miniatures, so they sued.. doesn't quite sound right as it also says the company didn't do too well because they weren't widly known...

though I would explain why it reminded me of some of the few space orks that Trish Morrision did pretty early on

I had a chat to the guy who took over Inquisition Miniatures and thought it’s been years since he’s had any he thinks it is.

So unless anyone has any firm proof I guess I’ll have to go with that.

Thanks for your help everyone
