Help find a Gary Chalk picture of a manticore

As the title suggests, I would appreciate your help in finding a picture that I don't even know exists. I'm just pretty sure of it. I remember a tough combat ina "Lone Wolf" adventure book and I remember the illustration to go with it, a wild dark-haired manticore. Does anyone remember that? And has a digital copy of the picture? Thanks y'all!

That one! Yup, thanks a lot for digging that up, that's the one I was looking for!
Well, pretty sure I did. I distinctly remember it being in black and white with stark contrasts. And a mane of shiny black hair.
That's a John Blanche cover then?
Yes, I believe John did the artwork for all of the books, both covers and internal art.

don't look at the modern ones.. with the super bland generic covers alot of books have these days... Though I will admit, the original has him looking very upset on the cover.. I think someone sole his toy mousy.
Yes I was most dismayed to see that they had replaced all the original interior artwork as well, can't think why they did that.

The normal point of view is 'Kids don't want that old rubbish, they want new stuff!'.. which is just a rubbish statement. There is also a bit of.. erm.. less niceness about it in the fact of 'if it looks the same, people won't pick it up mistaking it for something new'. I'm not sure that IS this in this case, but it happens ALOT.

Of course, It might be just, somehow a License issue. There was a weird thing in comics in the 80s where.. For a foreign printing in some places, it was cheaper to by the licence rights to re-issue the comic, but NOT get the art, so they had often kids partly trace, partly redrawn. IT was weird.. so maybe when Wizard (or whoever does it now) got the rights to re-issue the books under the Fighting fantasy brand, they didn't want to pay for the rights to the art... It can be interesting at times. Oh and there is the whole lets get collectors to buy a second copy cause this version has new art. well. I guess that kinda works... I got two Lewis Carol books I already have because it was the version which had Tove Jansson art.

Look at this one: the Beaver and Butcher hunting through the woods while they're mutual fear brings them close together as the hunt through the island.

It's a striking design which gets the feeling pretty well. I would say interesting design for a Beaver but at the same time, yes. It's an interesting design for a beaver. Tove's use of Light/dark was always great

The Sorcery editions in my bookcase have the Blanche art inside but some digital art on the cover. I don't mind, I'm not a huge fan of the Blanche covers anyway. It's his line work I find exquisite.
