• Welcome to the Golden Gobbo painting competition. If you'd like to read some of the ancient history you can on the Realm of Chaos 80s blog.

This competition is held some years and you'll find threads here describing how to enter and when the competition is running (typically after BOYL each year).

Other than the fame and wonderment of your peers there is often a prize kindly donated and you'll have the wonder of being awarded badges for your profile here.

^Why sad? I figure you get the good fortune at having a somewhat better chance of seeing the apocalypse first ha . . . I mean, you have better odds of enjoying medical and technological advances and maybe finding out how power armor and conversions beamers will actually work. And Syn Skin and extra lungs and all that jazz. It's getting better. Gotta get better.

I might have some miniatures older than me, maybe? But none from GW for some reason. I'm pre-pre-slotta. I sort of embody the Warhammer for the 40+ set, I suppose. Going to have to change that first digit soon if things keep going as they are.

in the spirit of solidarity, and despite my clear lack of ability, here's my golden gobbo entry. the only thing i've managed to get painted for orctober (so far).

Nice one! Must be honest, one of miniatures that I had in mind was pump wagon ( beside Cockatrice with night goblin standard, Dieter and Nagash ). Really like all the fun on miniature. I didn't have belts so I decide for Nagash ( as NG didn't fit that good and Dieter was half striped of paint and all that ), just for the kicks. Really nice pump wagon! Nice addition to already nice lineup of models for this GG.

And now on to my entry I've been painting a load of plastic and resin "Slaves to Darkness" minis to sell recently so as penance I decided I neeeded to do the real thing. I picked up one of these guys modified to be a chaos chariot driver in a job lot and thought he had sufficient oldhammmerness for the Golden Gobbo.

Here's the illustration from Slaves to Darkness

And here's my version

He is Grinnon Gold Fist Champion of Khorn with technological weapons a power fist and a Dark Eldar Agoniser obviously doesb't mind effective weapons from wimpish Slaaneshi sources. He may end up with a chariot or retinue somtime.

I was thinking that image from Slaves to Darkness that you have posted. Next to the Khotne bloke is some other miniature image that is cut off. Looks like that whip that you put on Khorne bloke.

It is, actually it is the whip from the first edition of the Bloodthirster. I could do with one of those for my bloodthirster!

Late, but not too late!
Great entries so far - love the apparent Ogre theme!
Painting time has been scarce of late, but for the competition it is my pleasure to share:

Squig Handlers:
Skeggit and Scraggit, off to chase down some more nice beasties for the Boss's menagerie. And in glorious, Red Period technicolour, too!
