Golden Gobbo at Oldhammer Day? Remote Competitors?

Unless someone wanted to mock up some kind of trophy? Might be nice to see if there's any of those lovely free dice going spare for any of our competitors from foreign climes who can't be there on the day...

Maybe you can strong arm him into making a set of gold colored dice with gobo heads instead of skulls for the winner.

I'd be happy with that Orlygg - just thought a single infantry figure would be easier in the time remaining. I know I've got a few other things to get done before the end of August!

Hmm not a bad idea Ardyer

Just don't ask Treps to supply the prize...those pirate gobbos never did show up, still of plundering somewhere! Aaaar!

No, nothing was ever discussed about Golden Gobbo at the Oldhammer Day. It was one of the early ideas that never really went any further than an idea. With all the contributors running games there was no one to take charge of this one. Should be fairly easy to organise on the day though - put models here will probably be enough.

This topic has got me thinking about listing the concrete games that are occuring over the weekend but this thread is not the place for that.
I'm not doing anything else very useful. I can help with this if you like?
I can stand there and point to a table as well as the next man.

Well in the absence of any rules I'll jump in.

How does a single infantry figure of your choice, any range, any vintage sound?

I'm sure there'll be a spare table we can use to display the entries and if we can press someone from Foundry into the role of judge all the better. The prize - eternal glory in the annals of Oldhammer and that nice self satisfied feeling you get when you win something!

All sounds good.
Except I think there should be two catagories ... Single mini and monster. (I just want to see the War tortoise up close.)

Also you could have a catagory for 'Most Oldhammer' .... the mini that has the most oldhammer vibe going on ... to encourage people to bring along and show the interesting stuff even if their painting is not Golden Demon standard.

I will see if I can do something about some trophies.

Just reread Gaj's info on the Oldhammer event some of us posted on our blogs and found this bit!

What's the Golden Gobbo?

Full details of the Golden Gobbo have yet to be worked out, but this is a painting contest. This is a minor exception to the fact that this is NOT A TOURNAMENT. Andy Craig has offered to be the judge, so you'd better get started.

The theme of the contest is The Spirit of the 80's. Any figure, from any range, from any era is eligible. It could be your own sculpt, a scratch build from a power ranger, a monster, a vehicle, a lone goblin. No restrictions - just in keeping with The Spirit of the 80's.
