• Welcome to the Golden Gobbo painting competition. If you'd like to read some of the ancient history you can on the Realm of Chaos 80s blog.

This competition is held some years and you'll find threads here describing how to enter and when the competition is running (typically after BOYL each year).

Other than the fame and wonderment of your peers there is often a prize kindly donated and you'll have the wonder of being awarded badges for your profile here.

GG 2025 Golden Gobbo '25

Been dragging my feet on finishing the touch ups on this but... I guess this'll have to do.. it's only close ups (like camera ¬_¬) that you notice some bits I think need a tiny tweak..

Magus.jpg
Genestealer Cult Magus. I do have his familiar to paint up when I decide to tackle something that small ^_^

Custom made base design to go with my style for my stealers.. technically not a Cult but a Coven.
always interesting that the Magus, being the most human looking, goes among humans to try to convince people to their religion without telling them they are really genestealers... yet.. they have that staff and some pretty clear traits..

Here are my final pics for my entry:

This is my entry. It is a base insert that allows my Classic Keepers of Secrets to take to the table in modern 40k or AoS. I needed to make it into a mini diorama or else the poor Keeper looks very small in the center. The pic shows it, loaded and unloaded.

Like that idea, might need to steal it. Where are the ladies from?

mm.. gonna have to have someone check that base insert cause it might push the line over to diorama.
nice though ^_^

Fair. But, I mean it is literally just a base. It doesn’t even have “the model” in residence all of the time. And this way I can flumox younger 40k players as it isn’t the model they expected, but its on the “proper base”, and is even a GW model. Hell, it’s entirely tournament legal if one cared about such things.

Cutting it fine, but eventually got the camera set up just now and did a snap. So I thought I'd keep it simple so I had some chance of finishing a model. Also I thought I'd be interesting to paint something I'd never done before. So we have a Pink Horror, I'm sure I have a few of his blue chums about somewhere to do one day. Anyhow out of time now, so you'll have to take him plain base and all!

And the comp is closed for 2025. Right and we have the voting thread live:

If we've managed to accidentally miss your entry, apologies. Please drop me a note and I'll add you to the vote. If we've managed to do the worst possible summary image of your vote please do say and we'll have a second go!

Now go off have a look at all that lovely oldhammer goodness, then potter back through this thread and then after much careful consideration vote for me ;)

Oh man, lovely entries! Sadly life (and multiple trips to IKEA) got in the way of painting for the lat couple of months so I wasn't able to get my entry in, but surely I'm gonna enjoy voting!
