• Welcome to the Golden Gobbo painting competition. If you'd like to read some of the ancient history you can on the Realm of Chaos 80s blog.

    This competition is held some years and you'll find threads here describing how to enter and when the competition is running (typically after BOYL each year).

    Other than the fame and wonderment of your peers there is often a prize kindly donated and you'll have the wonder of being awarded badges for your profile here.

GG 2025 Golden Gobbo '25

Ah, but flavour text describes Ruglud when he wasn't a leader of the group then after they were able to get the gobbo for tea, he was made leader. So I see no problem ^_^
The group of armoured orcs were only one unit formed among the Crooked Eye tribe under Gudruk's command, for which Ruglud was then appointed as leader for sourcing the gear. Gudruk was stil in overall command. And that still doesn't solve the mystery of who was supposed to be which mini... 🙂

yeah, it was more about the fact that the regiment in the box was probebly meant to be the group as Ruglud was commanding (thus the name) with Gudruk kinda acting as a second. Back then Orcs weren't so in-fighty ^_^ anyway.. kinda getting a bit too sidetracked ^_^;

I'd had some more grand plans, but predictably my fickle nature is leading me astray to other projects now... therefore my submission this year will be: Prince Thoron, a Pict inspired Wood Elf noble, of sorts... when I bought him back in the '90s he was sold as a Wardancer, and his base tab just says "Elf".

I was never that enamoured with this mini back in the day, but planning and realising the paint scheme has really made him one of my all time favourites now. :grin:

I can see why that would be a favourite mini now. Loving the shield and the details on the edge of the tunic, very nice.

Nice moody colour scheme. Fits him very well!

So here’s my entry, I wanted to get some practice in on painting smaller/older minis before I start my Eldar project, and it was Orctober too.

So, one Ork standard bearer, enjoy.
