• Welcome to the Golden Gobbo painting competition. If you'd like to read some of the ancient history you can on the Realm of Chaos 80s blog.

This competition is held some years and you'll find threads here describing how to enter and when the competition is running (typically after BOYL each year).

Other than the fame and wonderment of your peers there is often a prize kindly donated and you'll have the wonder of being awarded badges for your profile here.

A massive thank you to everyone who entered, everything looks so gloriously oldhammer. This is just a formality, of course, as now owning such an awesomely painted miniature is a massive win. Nevertheless, let the polling commence! This year for a change we're giving everyone up to two equally weighted votes, so spread the love! Voting will close on 21st December at the end of the day (00:00 UTC 2025/12/22).

Please do click on the image captions to view the original submission entry for more detailed and extra photos of each entry as these summary photos hardly do justice to the greatness on display!

Now I've cast my votes, it's interesting to see how it's going. Would still like 5 votes to give for next year though, that was hard choosing! 🤣

Well we'll no doubt play around a bit over the years. I'd be curious to see how many people cast both votes (you don't have to) and how many people vote for themselves with their second vote :) Anyhow I guess suggestions on a postcard to Fimm for any format tweaks, although I think generally keeping things fairly loose is the aim.

It's all good. Making the hard decisions was fun. I tried to ignore the type of model itself as much as I could, and look at technical things but all balanced with 'points' for esoteric "Oldhammer" vibe.

Beautiful stuff and well done to everyone. It was a really enjoyable half hour running through all the links.
Two votes is definitely better than one as there is so much great stuff at least I can spread the appreciation a little wider (Although I'm clearly disappointed the system doesn't allow me to vote for myself twice ;) ).
