pretty sure they aren't sadly. (though I'm not a big dwarf guy). They have been completely dead since late 2018 it appears but if you see the e-mail address (didn't see it myself but probably on there FB page or someplace) then maybe you can get some information

Oh, and that tiny little boar's head on the banner looks just like Gary Chalk painted it on himself, simply awesome. A marvelous unit!

So first we have my first attempt at a conversion. This was my attempt to recreate the combat card model Prince Gomrund Tallhelm . These were done not long after I first got back into the hobby and still at a time when models were cheap enough that cutting up 2 just to make 1 was still ok ! The second version (green/yellow) was intended to be part of my dwarf army that was painted in green/ yellow scheme.

On my second return to the hobby I stripped my whole dwarf army and began painting them again! This time I went for unique colurs for all of them. Didn't get that far just these in photo. One thing I did start was painting the same model but changing the hair colour to represent the figure as normal warrior and then as an old veteran.

The reason I stopped working on the Perry dwarf army was due to me finding BOOD dwarfs and deciding I really wanted to make up an army with the models. The main love were the ponies/riders and began trying to convert the original models as I wanted a more dynamic look to them. As much as I enjoyed them the actual process of converting made progress really slow so I gave up on the ponies but have got a nice group of the foot warriors (3 units already in the cabinet !)

Are they on regulation 20mm bases though?

Based on 20mm mdf bases.

So the finally part of my rediscovery was getting my main lead piles collected. These are my main collections apart from my skaven as they are all based and undercoated. So what do we have ? Well we have a box of Dwarfs all circa 1985 perry figures including a second 20 dwarf Prince Ulther unit in a bag and in the other bag are all my Bood dwarf models. Next are my Goblins, again all Kev Adams circa 1985, including another 5 chariots ! and finally we have my Orcs again all Kev Adams circa 1985 (can you spot a pattern :lol:). I also have somewhere that I can't find yet a rather decent amount of Elves and I think some wood Elves.

Ideally I would love to complete at least one of my armies. But all very daunting with the shear amount of models left to paint. As I said my Skaven are all based and undercoated so I think they would be the easiest to work on and I think I have another 60-80 models to paint for that army.
 
At least they are not painted! 😉
My boxes of bare metal minis are in a similar state… Got 12 boxes of same size with armies of models… 🫣
 
So I have a plan for trying to motivate myself and that is to complete one of my 3 major army projects. The easiest will be my Skaven so that is what I'm going to try for. The reason is I have everything I need (missing 1 Rat Ogre), most of them are already based and undercoated and probably the main reason its a simple paint scheme basically shades of brown ! Dug out the unfinished models and just over 50 to do so not a scarily daunting number. Now just need the enthusiasm ;)

Great stuff them ratties!

Set yourself managable monthly targets for units! I set up a simple spreadsheet to track progress and completion target dates.
Assume you plan to batch paint? How many can you reasonably work on at once? It can be disheartening/boring if working on the same models at once, but having a completed unit once done is very satisfying!
 
Very nice! I am not so familiar with those old school Skaven. Are there any characters in the picture?

Also, are you planning on playing with any of your armies - and if so, what game system?

really? they ARE the Skaven! not the iffy stuff that came later. Okay, I know I'll do to 4ed, but 5ed onwards, the Skaven models are just.. ugh.. not for me. Maybe the odd one okay but they just aren't the same species.

Some rat Ogres, 1 Unit of Slaves, 1 unit of Clan Rats, a 2 units of Gutter runners, 2 Units of Plague Monks.. Huh. interesting choice to have Gnawdoom with the plague monks ^_^ No stormvermin/black rats?
