So this year has not exactly been a good one for me. Not felt like painting for a very long time. However recently been trying to get my life organised and this has resulted in me getting a display cabinet for my models. Until now my painted models have been either left in storage or on a dusty shelf (Not to go into detail but my now ex was never keen on them being on show).

So the first thing I will need to do is clean up my models and repair damage to them. First up I really wanted to work on my unit of Orc Boar riders mainly due to me dropping them ages ago and causing a lot damage to them. It also gave me the chance to change a detail on them that I was never really happy with.

So am I back ? No not really. Its going to take a long time for me to get my life back and start looking forward but its definitely a new beginning...

Thanks for offer. I'm past the venting stage thankfully and now trying to move forward and be positive with future.


Sorry I should have probably mentioned the story behind the cheerleader/musician ! Here's a link to the original topic regarding my attempt to paint up my GREENSKINS . I can see it's been 3 years since I last did anything with them.

I took a few quick pictures of my models in the cabinet. As I said they all need to be cleaned up and touched up. It is nice to see them all in one place and at the same time rather daunting to see how much they are all unfinished ! So there are Skaven, Orc & Goblin, Dwarfs, Squats and Eldar.

I will carry on posting the units as I clean them up and hopefully it wont be too long before I have new stuff to add.

I think I remember your name from the ol' Bugman's Brewery days, could that be correct?

I am sorry to hear that the year has been rough. I hope that it gets better from here. The hobby is a great place to regroup and recuperate.

Great to see that your collection gets to taste the air again and be out in the open (that is where they always should be, in my opinion).

Yes I was on Bugman's back in the day when it was a very active site for lovers of dwarfs

Aye, I remember when I joined back in 2010 after getting into the hobby. There were often new posts and threads on a daily bases. A lot of love for the dwarfs back then. I think the combination of Warhammer Fantasy getting the axe in 2015 and people moving over from forums to social media groups really shifted the activity and made it grind to a halt. Small buds of activity has sprouted now when Old World came back, but it is not in bloom as it was back then. Nevertheless, good times were had. I still have that Dwarf King miniature that the forum members came together and backed in order for it to get sculpted.

Hope to see more of your dwarfs in the future!
 
As everyone else has said, some great looking stuff. I do quite love your use of the cheerleader. (Might be the best I've ever seen.) Sorry you've had to live through all this, but I hope you come out the other side okay. With nicer display cabinets. (Looks like you've made a good first step there. I need some better display cabinets myself.)
 
So found some more little gems whilst doing some tidying. All very dusty and slightly damaged but nice trip down memory lane for me.

So first we have my first attempt at a conversion. This was my attempt to recreate the combat card model Prince Gomrund Tallhelm . These were done not long after I first got back into the hobby and still at a time when models were cheap enough that cutting up 2 just to make 1 was still ok ! The second version (green/yellow) was intended to be part of my dwarf army that was painted in green/ yellow scheme.

On my second return to the hobby I stripped my whole dwarf army and began painting them again! This time I went for unique colurs for all of them. Didn't get that far just these in photo. One thing I did start was painting the same model but changing the hair colour to represent the figure as normal warrior and then as an old veteran.

The reason I stopped working on the Perry dwarf army was due to me finding BOOD dwarfs and deciding I really wanted to make up an army with the models. The main love were the ponies/riders and began trying to convert the original models as I wanted a more dynamic look to them. As much as I enjoyed them the actual process of converting made progress really slow so I gave up on the ponies but have got a nice group of the foot warriors (3 units already in the cabinet !)

Fan of dwarves too and BOOD did/do a neat Imperial Dwarf range! Think I prefer the renaissance style Marauder dwarves for my Empire dwarf units, but will keep an eye out for this range too.
 
Love these - massive dwarf envy! 😍

Does anyone know if BOOD dwarfs are still available from the source? There's not much of an online presence, just a really old blogspot site?
