Well a Magus and Patriarch go together like Fish and Chips so here is a picture of my Cult's Patriarch:

I hope I've done this wonderful old model justice. Additionally he is a proud father so I thought I would show you some of his beautiful children:

I'm looking forward to fielding these guys with my new hybrids as part of my budding cult armyin the very near future!

There's a bit more about them on my blog!!

Much obliged my friend! There's something very satisfying about painting these old classics!! I literally cannot wait to get them out and about on the battlefield!!

Slippery slope, soon your'll have a Cult as large as mine :grin:

I most certainly will do a BATREP ASAP! My (previously non-wargaming) girlfriend told me last night that she was day-dreaming about my genestealers ( wahay ) and wanted to have a game with them!

Luckily I have already drafted a Rogue Trader scenario (with pictures) which is ready and waiting to go; featuring both genestealers and her repeat character the noble inquisitor Athena!! Now all we need to do is find some time to play (once again work and life persist on getting in the way of my hobby time!!

Hi guys;

I'm currently working out my painting schedule/plans so there is some semblance of organisation to them...this won't last but it makes me feel better. In light of that I'd really like to add to my gene stealer cult. Currently I have the above Patriarch; Magus and a few Hybrids.... The question us what should I add next (They'll be used in both RT and Second Edition). Are there any cult players out there that can make a recommendation for my plans? Do I need more hybrids or would brood brothers be a better investment of my time? Also what vehicles do you recommend for these xenos?

Cheers;

Legio

as vehicles go when I think of a genestealer cult, the only vehicle I think of is the cult limousine :mrgreen:
will take some effort sourcing and converting a proper vehicle, but honestly it's the only way to go IMHO

While the retro fan and old hammer hearted in me say YES, I think something a little more original could do too if you decide to set your cult in a suburban environment :

A pimped van could look awesome and would look more credible (more space, hidden, more practical?etc...)

Just saying.

How did you paint the claws on the genestealers? They look great. I try and get a similar effect on horns when I paint but they always turn out a bit crap.

I second this query - I've been trying the same for my dragons. Give us your sweet knowledge! Please! :)

Always more than happy to help. Start with a dark brown base; I use Citadels old scorched brown but any suitable dark paint will do. Then choose a yellow-y brown (bubonic brown or snakebite leather) to add tapered striations on the majority of the claw, start thin at the base and work up to a thicker tipper. Repeat this with bleached bone and finally a 50/50 bone and white mix; then a tip highlight of pure white. For larger claws (Patriarch) you can add a few additional layers by additional stages and a few washes....

I hope this helps guys!!

Thanks! I used to start with a bone colour and add the 'brown' bits. Your method looks like it will produce much better results. Now I need to rustle up a model with claws and give it a go.
