My buddy Norman built a Space Hulk ToGo set, based on this PDF. He printed the parts and glued them to self-adhesive 2mm foam. Today, we tested the set during a brunch on a cocktail table.
We played Mission One from the core game, where the Marines need to place on flamer shot in the dead end room to win.
Game 1
Norman played the Marines, I played the Stealers.
At the beginning, the Stealers came from all directions.
The Marines left one in the first room to guard the corridor, while the rest of the squad advanced towards the objective room.
The flamer killed Stealer and a blip, which both were left carelessly in the same corridor section.
The Flamer Marine then advanced behind the Sergeant in the upper corrdior, while the two other two Marines covered the lower corridor.
The Marines advanced slowly, while the Stealers were not able to break through.
The Marines neared the objective room.
The Sergeant turned the corner, killed the Stealer blocking the corridor, and destroyed the door to the target room. The Flamer Marine blocked the nearest Stealer entry area.
The Sergeant moved back out of the corridor, which allowed the Heavy Flamer Marine to move in and flame the target room - Marine Victory.
Game 2
This is the re-match, with switched sides; Norman the Stealers, me the Marines.
The start was pretty similar, with one Marine left in the first room to guard the corridor there. The Sergeant sprinted into the parallel corridor on 6 CPs, and set up over watch there.
Of course he jammed his storm bolter, when the first Stealer approached, but killed it in the ensuing close assault thanks to his +1 bonus.
In the next round, the Sergeant's bolter jammed again on over watch, this time the Stealer killed him.
While one Marine covered the corridor corner, another Marine and the Flamer Marine continued their advance on the intersection.
The leading Marine was attacked by a Stealer, and heroically won the close assault! As was attacked from his side, this merely turned him around, and did not kill the Stealer.
But he did so with the second Stealer attack! The Marine guarding the short corridor section at the corner shot down the advaning Stealer on over watch.
The Marine at the intersection destroyed the door to the target room with his storm bolter, than moved backwards. This allowed the Flamer Marine to enter the intersection, and set the target room ablaze.
Marine victory!
Conclusion
Playing with this print-out version does not feel right, having the actual miniatures and board sections is a better experience, but it is compact and suitable for taking along.
Wasting time not playing a game, or playing one 'on the road' with this set - then I would rather play a game with this set
