[Forked Space Hulk] Mission 1: Suicide Mission

Game played on 2024-02-11.​

This was the refight of the first game with switched sides.

[...] but ... wow some shocking tactics from both sides there!

Well, as this is the Genestealer player's second game overall, and his first playing the Genestealers; and it was my 2nd game after a 10 years hiatus from Space Hulk, don't expect too much from this game, either...


Prelude

+ + Initial wide spectra scans of space hulk incoming. Analysis
    processing...

+ + Flashlight data. Large sub-ship cluster at sector 86. Size and
    position indicates escape/contamination function.

+ + Room at position 86-Beta-347 probably serves as launch-control
    room for the escape/contamination lifepods.

+ + Squad Scipio sent to destroy control surfaces in the room.
    Torching the room determined to bear greatest chance of success.

+ + First signs of enemy movement detected in sector. The wary will
    succeed.

Turn 1

+ + 16:35:07 Brother Cassius opened the door leading into sector 86.

    For the Emperor and our people - we shall succeed.

    With his first step into the room, he hosed down the opposite door.

    I am His Sword, as He is my Shield. I am His Wrath, as He is my Zeal.

    He then took up position where that door used to be, at the exit of
    room 86-My-334.

    Beholden to our honour, prepare for death.

+ + 16:35:25 Brother Remus entered the room and moved to the left
    wall, in line with the door on the right wall.

    Our foes await our cleansing fury. Our people's soul scream for
    vengeance.

+ + 16:35:28 Brother Sergeant Scipio led Brothers Bacchus and Aeneas
    forwards into room 86-My-334.

    Forward, Brothers. Forward to honour.

+ + + Timer left 2:01

+ + 16:36:10 The sensoriums showed more movement at 86-Ypsilon-349.

    Enemy concentrations are high. Go with the Emperor's blessings.

    All the blips were moving towards the marines.

    Blips approaching from all directions.

Turn 2

​

+ + 16:36:55 Brother Cassius advanced to point 86-My-342 and guarded
    the squad's front by going on overwatch.

    Expect heavy resistance. The Emperor demands success, and we shall
    not fail.

+ + 16:37:14 Brother Sergeant Scipio continued to lead Brothers Bacchus
    and Aeneas towards the objective along the 96-My corridor.

    The scene of our reprisal is set. We are the avengers. Nemesis.

+ + 16:37:21 Brother Remus shot at the door in 86-Xi-334 while turning
    towards it, shattering it.

    Operation proceeding as planned.

    He missed with his first salvo at the door in 86-Tau-334, but also
    permanently opened it with the second.

    By the throne, Brother, save your ammunition!

    The Captain at this point ordered Brother Sergeant Scipio to
    advance further.

    The Emperor watches our every move.

+ + 16:38:27 The blip at 86-Omikron-347 turned out to be three
    Genestealers. The first two assaulted Brother Cassius, who's
    bolter barrel was glowing red hot as he was sending shot
    after shot down corridor 86-My, hosing down both aliens.

    Brothers, the enemy are at hand. Summon all your resolve.

    The last Genestealer of the trio only passed corridor 86-My, too
    fast for Brother Cassius to hit him, and advanced up corridor
    86-347 towards the objective room.

    The fate of the heretic can be naught but merciless purgation.

+ + 16:39:44 The rest of the blips advanced towards the Marines. 

    We shall be victorious. We shall overcome.

Turn 3

​

+ + 16:41:29 Brother Remus went on overwatch to guard corridor 86-334.

    Humanity's protector is at hand.

    Brother Cassius advanced to allow access for his brothers to
    corridor 86-341 and also kept vigilance down corridor 86-My.

    We are the vanguard of honor.

    The rest of the brothers lined up behind him, with Brother
    Sergeant Scipio looking down 86-341.

    Avengement approaches.

+ + + Timer left 1:41

+ + 16:42:31 New movement was picked up by the sensoriums in
    86-Ypsilon-349. The reinforcements immediately moved up
    corridor 86-347.

    Vindication approaches.

    The contact showing on the sensoriums in 86-Xi-347 actually turned
    out to be 3 Genestealers!

    Our sensoriums have failed us!

    The Genestealer across 86-My moved into 86-Iota, behind the blip
    showing to be there.

    We are the leading edge of one thousand marines.

+ + 16:43:39 The Genestealers in corridor 86-347 crossed 86-My to move
    towards the control room, one was killed by Brother Cassius'
    overwatch fire.

    We bring death.
 
    The blip 86-Iota-343 opened the door and advanced one square.

    Our enemy is at hand. We shall continue. We shall succeed.

Turn 4

​

+ + 16:46:01 Brother Cassius advanced down corridor 86-My to make room
    for Brother Bacchus to advance, and kept up his overwatch.

    Victory will redeem our forebears.

    Brother Sergeant Scipio followed him openening the spot on
    T-junction 86-My-341.

    Time does not heal our wounds.

+ + 16:46:13 Brother Bacchus advanced to 86-Lambda-341 and torched
    corner section 86-Iota-341. The blip disappeared from the
    sensoriums.

    We pray these creatures feel pain.

    Brother Aeneas closed the gap to Brother Sergeant Scipio.

    Let us seize our honour's reprieve.

    Brother Remus kept up overwatch down corridor 86-334.

    Our enemy face humanity's axe.

+ + 16:47:46 More reinforcements arrived from 86-Eta-343 and moved
    through corridor 86-Iota towards the Marines.

    Fear not your enemies. Loathe them instead.

Turn 5

​

+ + 16:49:42 Brother Bacchus advanced to 86-Ioata-342, right in front
    of a Genestealer, snd sent his holy flames to engulf both
    Genestealers in corridor section 86-Iota-344.

    Purge our honour. Cleanse and burn.

    The dice turned up a 1 for both Genestealers, meaning both
    survived!

    We must not fail.

+ + 16:49:42 Brother Bacchus sent another stream of flames into the
    corridor section 86-Ioata-344, this time killing all targets.

    The Emperor's will must be fulfilled.

    Brothers Remus and Cassius kept up their overwatch.

    Death to the Genestealers. Glory to the Emperor. Vengeance shall
    be ours.

+ + 16:51:22 A non-ending stream of reinforcements continued to pour in
    from 86-Eta-343 and surged through corridor 86-Iota towards the
    Marines.

    Defeat will not be tolerated. The Emperor watches over us.

Ups... Indeed... I just missed to post the last turn somehow... thanks for letting me know.

Turn 6

+ + 16:52:23 With the flames in corridor section 86-Iota-344 dying
    down, Brother Bacchus identified the blip showing on the sensorium
    in 86-Ioata-346 as being one Genestealer. He moved up to him and
    set the corridor intersection at 86-Iota-347 aflame.

    This is vendetta, none must flinch.

    The Genestealer survived on another roll of a 1! The blip behind
    was fried.

    We can but strive to succeed, even when, in striving, we shall die.

    Brothers Remus and Cassius kept up their overwatch.

    We shall laugh at death together.

+ + 16:55:29 The Genestealer in 86-Iota-346 attacked Brother Bacchus,
    and killed him outright.

    They are blessed who die for humanity.

    With their means to achieve the mission objetive been gone,
    Brother Sergeant Scipio ordered the retreat...

    Others shall carry on, and we shall not be shamed.

    Prayers of vengeance steel our souls.

    We mourn our dead Brother. His is no disgrace.

    We shall avenge.
