Fishmen...

Is anyone here able to give me someback ground info on Fishmen?

As I understand it they were originally intended to be included back in the days of 1st/2nd edition, there were included in lazerburn but then dropped.

I know a couple of lazerburn miniatures were produced, but I read somewhere they were based on fantasy sculpts, did these sculpts ever get produced? Also was any art ever produced for them?

cheers,

They were probably supposed to be the Kuo-Toa from AD&D,

- the ankle binding / socks are very telling.

See also dungeon module D2 - The Shrine of the Koa-Toa, which refers to them explicitly as men-fish.

They also (very) nearly made an appearance in 40k. Those two fishmen on the right of the article got converted at the studio with sci-fi guns and got cast up to be used as early playtest figures for Rogue Trader, according to Bryan.

Foundry gave a bunch of them away to attendees at the RT/Oldhammer event in Dec 2012. We can't sell them as they're obviously GW's IP, but apparently it was OK to give a few away on the day.

That reminds me, I must get around to painting mine!

Sorry, wrong link. Corrected in the original post now.

The Orcs are Marauder boar riders pending in a trade btw.

They look like Orcs & Ogres to me. Nice orcs though, what range are they from?

I didn't think you liked the Marauder line John :)

Manfish or fishmen are in 2nd edition warhammer but were dropped for 3rd edition. There are 3 sculpts all with empty hands for separate weapons and the stats are terrible...
They do turn up on evilbay a fair amount too. I have picked up a small warband of them to paint at some point......

The laserburn/40k prototypes were listed for sale in a white dwarf but none had been seen until the 2012 recasting of them. I think there was also another dolphin-man or similar (can't remember but its on the ccm wiki).
