First Edition WFB Reenactment

Padre

Lord
This is the most Oldhammer video I have ever made - a reenactment of a 1984 First Edition Warhammer Fantasy Battle game, using only the stuff I had back then. Since the old 2012 forum post (way back in this part of the forum), I have re-done umpteen pictures and added loads of new stuff and picture to the expanded background section. If you don't know, but want to know, what it was like playing in 1984, just after the first ever 'Forces of Fantasy' came out (at least, what it was like in my particular part of the world) then please take a look. (This is part one of two.)

Linka is a proper blast from the past.
I never backed mine with anything, was that a suggested thing or your own idea?

Oooh some proper old school models there!

Oooh Groms and Golgfags!

No magical items?

That is a great miliput conversion of the baron!!

Ah-ha ha ha, I was thinking the converted horsemen had Conan vibes and then you said it!

Wow, D10 for some stats??! Ha that is bonkers.

Toughness was a letter back then eh, I had forgotten that.

Good stuff sir, good stuff indeed.

Another fun behind the scenes, thanks for putting together. Am sure many of us can empathise with the obsessive imaginative play of your youth (even if you refer to yourself in the third person!), just wish I had been motivated enough to paint up more of my minis!!

Brilliant! It definitely takes me back. I've been slowly digging out my own fantasy world of the ear and considering whether I ought to run a roll playing game in it. Maybe one of these days my mapping skills might even almost be the equal of yours! (You truly do lovely work.) Reminds me of my brother and I using Lego with wargaming rules. We did both fantasy at "figure" scale and space combat with ships at what I called "1/722." (Since several of my WWII naval kits were in that scale.) Anyway, lovely stuff! Thank you for this.

Thanks for the comments guys.

@ Mr Stockin - I used Milliput from 1982 until last week, when someone told me it is poisonous. Just used 'greenstuff' for the first time ever this week, and have to say - bloomin' difficult for me to use. Typical!

@ Brother Meredith: I always assumed if it ain't painted, it doesn't go in my armies.

@ Mr Poet: Those Airfix Sci Fi days seem like a blissful part of my life!

Special Video 10 is the second episode of the pair. 'The battle!'

This is the conclusion of our 2012 reenactment of a 1984 Warhammer Fantasy 1st edition game, using only the figures and scenery I myself had in 1984. Enamel paint jobs throughout and loads of Prince August self-moulded figures and historicals to bulk out the numbers. It's how I did it in the early 80s. And once again in 2012.

not really any more then alot of the stuff. like most epoxy's don't eat it, which includes being careful when you turn it into a fine powdered. not being offensive but comment to the 'someone' that both Chocolate and water are more poisonous. (about 3-4 litres of water in about an hour or 2 will be enough to kill you,. Chocolate it's about 80kg to kill you. We are quite strong against chocolate. Cats less so, Dogs even less).

^_^

Was a chat in the Crown of Command livestream. As you mentioned @Padre you have been using enamels for decades, but sounds like you lead an otherwise clean lifestyle, so just take a little more care in the future and don’t worry too much. ;)

I have to admit that over the years I may have licked my fingers to wet them when working with milliput. Although I suspected that was silly a while ago and for several years at least I have been dipping my fingers in a water dish to wet them when working with milliput. White spirit, milliput, acetone, lead, super glue and polystyrene cement, all have me worried concerning how I have been using them modeling and painting for several decades.

But yeah, best not to worry. And just be careful from now on. I'm not a time traveler so there's nothing I can do about it.
