Feypril 2026

So it's been a busy month and not much painting done, but what I have managed to eek out has largely been Elves. Probably because the painting challenges run my life and I'm just too scared to admit it! Anyways...

MM80-5_2and3_frontRS.jpg Two Marauder Wood Elves. I'm a shameless Marauder fanboy but the elves are the one range(s) I've never bothered with - they are (as you'd expect) pretty great and I realised I missed the boat with Femuary as lady elves are well represented and are properly dressed (or have covered up their chainmail bikinis) too!

And because the lure of plastic tat from my youth still wont go away:

The plastic High elf Spearman and Archer from (for these two) the 4th editon boxed set. I know this as these two have been mine from back in the day as I received the new edition (as I still think of it!) as a birthday present/with birthday money (probably the latter). I tried to recreate the box-art colour scheme, which came out a lot better then I was expecting, but it was unquestionably a faff, and represented far too long spent painting plastic rank and file figures. Which is a nice way of saying I am definitely not going to be painting a unit...

Many of the themes are quite narrow so how about a month with more wriggle room? The merry month of May, perhaps.

May's so merry, allegedly, that some Tudor geezer even wrote a poem about it. Anyhoo, Merry May could cover a bunch of stuff e.g. boozehounds, dancers, musicians, children playing, Goblins torturing Dwarfs and so on.
