Eyes or no eyes

Have a look on my blog. All the eyes are done that way.
got it, will certainly give that a try. Did you paint that image of the Dwarves getting ready to march? That's awesome

Something I was told for stopping the scared stare is to avoid having white all around the iris. It's rare to see white at the top and bottom of the eye. Easier said than done though, especially when models don't always have anatomically proportioned eyes and the iris would be massive. Sometimes I've just made the eye skin coloured with a dot iris on it. Especially if small.
that's exactly the problem, the eye is too large and i'm kind of a stickler for painting "as sculpted" although i think it works against me sometimes. I also like the idea of using off-white , never heard that one before

I've become a big fan of off white for 'natural' whites. Just a touch of citadel wraithbone in with the white. Looks far more natural. Goose feathers, eyes, several things recently. It doesn't stop it looking white, but just softens it

It is awesome. That is by Matthew Street, sadly no longer with us and very much missed.
Sadly i don't recognize the name or his project, but i bet it was awesome. I have a lot of Dwarves, mostly by Reaper, Ral Partha, and Old Glory and i do have large Dwarf themed project in the Queue.
Was very happy to score a complete Citadel FTD14 from ebayUK, delivered, without pulling a 2nd mortgage on the house.

I would say this will probebly get you into knowing a bit about him. Not alot but enough and stuff

though... I think.... maybe a move to a new topic if the topic wants to be discussed more.

Never do eyes. Lack of skill combined with frankly not being able to see them at table top distance make it seem pointless. I am just aiming for decent tabletop standard.

I applaud everyone who does them and if I was making a diorama or models for show I would.
