Deadcember 2025

GW gave me a £10 voucher - no idea why, so I bought him (for £5), metal, off their website, in the 21st century!
They did that for people they brought something from them.. When they first started to modern re-issues I brought something, and a year later had a voucher. I'm waiting for the next one ^_^

For a base, I connected two 50mm² metal bases from Products for Wargamers with a smaller one and superglue. Onto that base, I glued the horse. The rest I did not glue to the base, to be able to paint the model more conveniently in subassemblies.

To connect the wagon to the horse, I superglued two length of chain to the beams.

To secure them in place, I wrapped green stuff around the ends.

When that inital layer of green stuff was set, I added some more details. As the wagon will only be connected with the wheels to the base, I added more greenstuff there, to get more surface area for the connection.

After priming the models in white, I used for the first time Xpress Color; also the first time I used any of the contrast paints, quick gen, speedpaint or any of this type of paint. For the wood I applied:

  • 72.454 Desert Ochre
  • 72.473 Battledress Brown
  • 72.472 Mahogany

in random splotches and streaks.

For the bones I used my trusted recipee (from Mike McVey, Warhammer Fantasy Battles 4e era) of

  • two parts Schmincke Yellow Ink
  • two parts Schmincke Brown Ink
  • one part water

On the underside of the cart, as an experiment, I applied 72.476 Greasy Black Xpress Color, on one half diluted with 72.448 Xpress Medium (I was afraid it would be too strong), on the other side undiluted.

The undiluted part looked better, so all the wood got this treatment to darken the wood and emphasize the sculpted wood grain.

I used modelling spackle on the base, then painted it my usual black-brown.

The wood then got a final drybrush of Golden SoFlat N8 Neutral Grey. The bones were drybrushed with

  • Golden SoFlat Yellow Oxide & Titan Buff
  • Golden SoFlat Titan Buff
  • ProAcryl Bold Titanium White

After I painted the metal rim in Vallejo 77.711 Magnesium, I glued the cart to the base with superglue, strengthening the bond with sodium bicarbonate.

To be able to get at the area behind Skelliebob's legs, I painted his bones and black robe before gluing him on.

For the Black I used

  • Golden SoFlat Payne's Grey & Dioxazine Violet
  • Vallejo Xpress 72.476 Greasy Black
  • Golden SoFlat Payne's Grey & Dioxazine Violet
  • Golden SoFlat Payne's Grey & Dioxazine Violet & Titan Violet Pale
  • Vallejo Xpress 72.476 Greasy Black
  • Golden SoFlat Payne's Grey & Dioxazine Violet & Titan Violet Pale

The hooves I painted in

  • Golden SoFlat Payne's Grey & Dioxazine Violet
  • Adding more and more Golden SoFlat N5 Neutral Grey in downwards streaks

The scythe pole I painted in streaks of

  • Golden SoFlat Yellow Oxide
  • Golden SoFlat Yellow Oxide & N5 Neutral Grey
  • Golden SoFlat Yellow Oxide & N8 Neutral Grey
  • Final overall coat of Vallejo Xpress 72.473 Battledress Brown
