Allow me to add to the stereotype. I'd say that the typical Oldhammerer is:
- not really an "outdorsy" kind of person. Not a keen athlete, not nuts about "catching some rays", averse to gardening etc.
Nope, I'm a farmer and get all funny if I'm indoors for too long
Ti Pouchon":2ufivw0p said:
- not into speedy stuff like cars, motorbikes or rollercoasters
True, I do not see the attraction of travelling very fast
Ti Pouchon":2ufivw0p said:
- not partial to crowds or crowd events
True, I hate 'people'
Mr Pouchon":2ufivw0p said:
In short, a cat person rather than a dog person
Nope, far prefer dogs, though we have one of each

- appreciative of the fine things: good food, fine art etc; would take his date to an art exhibit instead of a blockbuster movie
Probably, in fact yes. We don't go to exhibitions very often, but that comes with living in the sticks.

- able to look after himself: knows how to fix dinner, do laundry, keep the flat/house clean...
Hmmm. I can cook. I *can* do all the other things, but to be honest they tend to slip under my radar. If I was wasn't married I would live in squalor.
Mr Pouchon":2ufivw0p said:
- reliable with appointments
No. I fail to see why anyone needs to be accurate to more than half an hour.
Mr Pouchon":2ufivw0p said:
- still owning more books than video games
Yes, I have far more books than storage space. I only have one computer game, Transport Tycoon. Unless you count the Carcassonne app on my iPad.

fairly tech savvy and fairly good at maths
No. And yes. Don't *get* computers and stuff. I use an iPad, but don't know what goes on under the bonnet.
beard: Yes. Goatee.
belly: No. Not by normal standards, though my skinny parents-in-law think I'm well covered.
short hair: no, though not as long as it used to be.
cat: yes. (But I prefer the dog)
