Chaos Renegades warband!

Finally!!!
Yes , finally I'll put my hands of some of this renegade guys, wow! And also have some time for myself :?
It's been a long search for a "fair" price for them , and after many many searchs through Ebay finally I've found a seller who sell them "cheap"...why?
Well , because they were totally messed up! I was shocked when unpackaging them about how incredibly bad can a miniature be painted...They have lost a LOT of details because of an
incredibly thick paint used , almost looks like rubber
Fortunately the details remain there under the paint , and after many many cleaning baths and stripping they 've been brought back to their old glory.
In fact I LOVE this miniatures, each one is one on its own!
Here the regular marines, the "khornate helmet" guy is my favorite and will be the leader

They will be ruled by a Lord in terminator armour, wich is a mix of the old body and the arms from 2nd edition terminators, wich fit really well , also I wanted him to look
like a TANK , so I reworked a bit its joining points on the arms to make his shoulders a bit wider, and go for just standing (look how f***ng big I am) pose and it was done!

Here the 2 big guys toguether.

And now the best mini of the band, the Dreadnought! WOW , LOVE it , that biomechanical/alien look...just amazing...but I have to say this guy was totally beated down!
Terrible painting again but also lost of detail because of some random hits, bended parts and the left arm was not completed , it came with a 2nd edition dread replacement...
But instead of putting me down , it motivates me to create the better dreadnought I can ;) So I fixed all , rise the details again and then reesculpted a lot of parts and the joints to
make it look like a 1 piece model, no holes , no joint parts! Also added some extra details ,cables, textures , etc, and turn the upper part a bit to the right to make it more dinamic , like walking .
The left arm was worked to stay on the right position and now look really cool
adding some variety for the model.
You cant see it mounted yet because I need to paint it separated, but soon you'll see.

Nice collection of minis, looking forward to seeing these painted up.
I'm a huge fan of that Traitor Terminator Captain figure, shame they only made a few of those old traitor terminators, the new ones just don't do it for me, too many silly metal railings and tusks stuck on them.

I guess it will come as no big issue for you but I'm curious to see how you manage to get that 2nd ed dread arm on the RT model...

I understand I have to finish my first batch of renegades and start getting serious on th enext ones

Looking really nice, I definitely like the bulkiness of the terminator.

It's almost tempting to paint up my renegades now rather than trade them on, of only there wasn't so much else to do.

You don't need the temptation believe me, let me just point you my trade section in my sig to see if you have some of the very few renegades I'm missing

For Heaven's sake Diego, do you really have talent for every aspect of our god damn hobby?
Are you planning on adding glazes over a preshaded spray job? looks like it.

One little question though : Why is his spine in the fornt and his prick in the back? I know it's been built like that countless times but I never understood why? Anyway, it's looking superb already. MIne are painted all black but these models demand some flashy paintjobs to give the best, get all the fun outta them mate !

I had that dilema in mynd too...and after testing both ways and checking the assembly instructions on the catalogue page , I decided to go this way , but as I have another one coming it will be the opposite ;)
And yes , thin layers over the base lightning

Any chance of having a recipe for those thin layers (or is it just paint thinned with loads of water?) I'm very curious about this technique but can't take the first step...

As you can see on some of the pics I mostly use AIR model vallejo paints , those are for airbrush, so they come very diluted already , then I add extra part of water AND, very important ,
I use a medium called thinner , wich A) Make the paint thinner :o ,
and B) add "body" to the mix so you can put it on the model without having crazy drops flowing everywhere. Also a lot of inks used with similar results.
Also is very importan to apply the brush with very few quantity on it , its the only way to have control over this technic. If the mix is too thick all the pre lightning will be lost.

I used water + matt medium to thin my black glaze on my renegades, maybe it works the same, I'll try your technique though. I read Dave King using windex too, might want to work with that too. I tried using GW glazes straight from the pot over preshaded models but the result was just silly. I'm impatient to see how your models turn out.

Sweet bunch of renegades you got there for yourself.

I think I could recognise you by your left hand at this stage. Looks a like you stabbed yourself on the thumb with a scuplting tool.

Lol , it was!

Asslessman: To use the GW glazes properly you need to water it down too, that way you can achieve very nice effects, what it does is like applying a translucent layer of the colour you choose, over the rest of the other colours.
Something like putting sunglasses with orange cristals for example.

That model on the right is so gorgeous, I'd really love to own a copy.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
