Chaos Dwarfs

So been a while since I've painted anything and to be honest until very recently not felt the urge too. However that changed when I saw some lovely painted 3D printed chaos dwarfs on Instagram. I quickly decided I wanted to give it a go and as I don't own a 3D printer I went with a ebay purchase. However when the models turned up the quality was so bad I gave up on the idea. Luckily someone from the hobby quickly got in contact and before not to long he had printed off a unit and posted them to me.

Light grey is ebay and dark grey is gift from friend. The photo clearly shows the difference in quality !

So didn't take me long to paint the first 2 and have to say really enjoyed the whole process, apart from dropping one and breaking off the axe head (resin is so brittle!)

resin is pretty brittle, the UV stuff uses in 3D printing various on the quality used.. I fine alot of companies and ebay sellers can kinda cheap out on the resin.. I only have a FDM printer but that light grey one.. kinda looks like a slightly different model but I think it's just been printed with a much lower quality and cheaper resin.. though have you cheated a bit with a slight black wash on the dark grey? looks like the details are a bit sharper due to a wash ^_^;

though will say, nice painting job ^_^

No wash added that is just the high quality of the 3d print.

i prefer the chaos dwarves from the northern wastes, but your do look good.
do you post on chaos dwarfs online?

When younger I wasn't a huge fan of Chaos Dwarfs (well the big hat version) at first, but I really like the wider range of colours you've used on these. They look awesome.

I got all the .stl files from Fabelzels Patreon... now I want to skip my current paint schedule, print and paint them... Which would not happen in any reasoble time frame, I am fully aware of that... but... Chaos Dwarves...

yeah, kinda what Eric said. I love the oxidized brass effect came out. Works well for being out and about and seeing battle.

Awesome!

How do you do the verdigirs effect? With turquoise acrylic washes? Oil washes? Some special product like DirtyDown's verdigris...?

However you do it, this gives the minis a very special flair, completeley different to the "clean" metals you usually see them in. Somehow ancient :)

No special product just simple washes. I will do a quick How to next time I do some

So painted up a few more. These have different hats which will help break up the completed unit.
