i felt the actual 1980's old school flavoured entries didn't do well i the voting.

That may well be so. It could be a result of many being largely unfamiliar with 1980s stuff, though given our Chaos Dwarfs Through the Ages compilation, that is no longer so sure as it once would have been. Perhaps some voters looked on most entries more as raw mock-up concepts, to be translated into more of an oldschool 80s style by the sculptor (I believe several entrants did as well, the archer boar centaur was certainly intended that way, and it was made by a longtime CDO member and oldhammer Chaos Dwarf collector). Perhaps many voters looked on sculpt quality over the concept fitting the 80s Chaos Dwarfs as such. It can be hard to tell.
I expected some other placements in the voting, but then again that can often turn out surprising. I put my votes on the actual 80s style entries (not my own, obviously), and yours is one of my top favourites. The presentation is excellent, straight out of the 1980s!
Old School Miniatures will at any rate weigh the various entries for oldhammer 80s content before making their pick, of that I am confident.
Perhaps some come-up-with-a-new-unit regardless of faction contest could be run here on Oldhammer Forum in the not so distant future? Regardless of sponsor, though getting one to sculpt the winner would be sweet. I'd love to see how the entries would look.
